I'm not sure if people on here have had experience yet. But down here in Somerset it's been a strange couple of days with it being swelteringly hot and i mean hot as in you cant wear a jumper.. then suddenly it started to rain for about half an hour then it went to being hot again.. then the same thing would happen. This has been happening for about 3 days down here if im not mistaken.

Now this maybe just me but this doesnt seem normal.. I'm not sure if global warming is to blame but its just a possibility.

Anyone else had experience of this?

Please discuss.

Run for the hills!!

Bang wonky bits of wood across your windows at funny angles!!

Wrap silver foil around your head and hide under the bed!!

Why do people always blame "strange" weather on global warming? Probably the same pussies who weep when the country gets 1" of snow, and they call it "atrocious".

I once heard we're at the end of an ice age - which makes sense to me, given today's weather.

Did you honestly expect nothing but birds chirping in the spring, sun in the summer, rain in autumn, and snow in winter?

it could just be mayb that there was a solar flare or something that meant we got more heat that normal. and i agree ban the 4x4s. end of an ice age?? i thought we were due one

just so you know i dont think global warming is happening as a result of cars and pollution etc i believe it to be a natural phonomenon because there were no humans to pollute the atmosphere at the beginning of the last ice age.. i do think pollution is going to have some kind of bad effect, obviously its going to. but i dont think global warming is one of the side effects. i only said it in my op as a possibility.

with regards to the snow in winter sun in summer comment i do know that that is highly unlikely.. but for it to be blisteringly hot then ice cold with rain then hot then rain again all day.. the boot just doesnt fit on this one.

i agree that global warming possibly happens naturally but i also think that pollution is just speeding up this process.

I'm not saying pollutions is helping the weather.

But what I am saying is, we're having weather now that our Great Grandparents saw in their youth.

Seeing as how we can't cope with a little bit of snow, and a couple of dry winters leads to drought in the South, what will happen when the magnetic poles shift at some time in the not too distant future?

Not much will happen as far as I'm aware, except you'll have a slightly (1 in 1000) increased chance of developing cancer.

Magnetic poleshift causes all electrical stuff to stop working!

I thought I saw an episode of Horizon that said it would but I may be wrong...

Yeah, there was a program on last year with "OMG we're all going to die!!!!111" style scare stories to get people watching. But in the end they said that the only short term consequences of having no magentic field would be a slightly increased risk of cancer.

Longer term (millions of years) is that the atmosphere gets blown away.
