Strange wifi interference

So came home from work today and noticed that my laptops wifi had issues connecting to router and even if I did it was dead slow. Thought it was driver issue etc.
Finally found out by scanning my area I saw this which is wth?:confused::eek:
Is someone jamming those four channels?

I was on channel 9 btw.
Swapped to channel 3 and everything was back to normal.
Any clue anyone?
 
microwaves are around that between 6 and 9. i dont know how long it was visible for but many microwaves even new ones can emit enough interference to cause havoc

were you preparing your tea on the microwave when you came in?

also central heating systems use wireless RF in 2.4ghz to talk to the boiler panel, if your systems batteries are low it could be the wireless unit trying to talk as it keeps losing connection (Although this is infrequent and most probably wouldnt be so high or spread)

finally any device that poll`s a network can look like this as it scans frequency, do you have any SNR or Dbm readings?

can you use this meter on a laptop? if so can you see if the signal gets any stronger in certain parts of the house?

have you had any security systems fitted recently? or have the neighbors got a particularly directional microwave PIR sensor ? decent security is on the k band so is ok but some older or cheaper stuff sits on 2.4ghz range also.
 
..btw you havent bought a new phone recently have you?
2.4ghz is free to air so lots of things sit on it and make 802.11 networks fail. a cordless phone could cause problems too so could baby monitors.

No nothing it all new I thought it was my bluetooth headphone or ipod transmiting bluetooth
nothing out of the ordinary was working fine yesterday evening. Laptop was on sleepmode.
I'm just using broadcom own wifi utility to scan for interference as I don't have any tools to read it in hand atm.
Few guests are downstairs with their iphones on other than that I'm not sure.
Will check later again.
Find it really odd.
I will go check with laptop now around the house.

EDIt: OK went to a different room and had some strange results lol.
Room 1 Channel 1-2 had loads of interence.
Back to my room I had those 4 channels loads of interference.

edit: it seems to gone down a lot more now but more spread out.

EDIT4: So right across the street neighbour having a party! I think. Maybe because of that? LOLOL oh can't be bothered too much kinda started to become interesting lol. Will see how it is tomorrow morning.

HAHAHAA EFFIN Iphone4
One of the guests downstairs just left with iphone4 jailbroken for some reason it jammed all of those channels now he is gone it's a lot less
