Just had two people come to my door saying they were police(had badge not in uniform) saying there was an assault down the road and wondered if we'd seen anything. who comes to your door at this time?

Weird.....

You would be complaining if they went back to the office and followed up the assault claims in the morning though wouldn't you.

Mind you I doubt I would have answered the door at this time anyway.
 
If your light was on and you were up then i dont really see a problem - if your house was in darkness and you were in bed asleep then i would have expected them not to knock and wake you.
 
No lights were on but I didn't mind I'm off work, just thought it was an odd time to knock; good luck to them finding them though it happened around 9 so I doubt they'll find them.
 
gareth.e I've seen you spam like that quite often recently you just quote someone and add nothing of your own... I don't understand why do you do it? what is the point? what does it add ?

I do find that quite strange that they would knock on your door then - perhaps it was a viscious attack and thought you may have heard something

About a month ago there was a break in at a shop down the road, police came to our house at about 3am as they saw a light on and wondered if we had seen anything.

It means he holds exactly the same opinion. You may see it as a waste but he sees it as a chance to air his views.
 
I guess they just need to get as many potential witnesses as possible. If they did everything in the day people on weird shifts wouldn't have the opportunity to talk.
 
Yea, must be hard trying to get any witnesses for something happing so late, I was out around that time but didn't see/hear anything. Just one of those things that you don't think would happen, main reason I thought it was weird is that one of them had there hood up so it's hard to tell who they are untill you talk to them(although it did turn out to be a girl :P).
