Stratagy/management

I'm currently rather bored and looking to expand my PC game collection, but am not sure what to get. I'd ideally like some form of stratagy or managemet game, since those are the main ones I play (and most newer FPS games probably won't run on my 1.7Ghz laptop).

Other games I own and love include: Theme park+hospital, Imperium Galactica 2, Europa Universalis 2&3, I like the non-battle bits of the Total War games, Star Trek Bridge commander.

I'm thinking about FM2008. I don't follow football or know the names of most of the positions, but I've heard that its a great managemnt sim. Is it worth getting, even if I don't know a thing about 'the beautiful game', and what other games should I be looking at?

An old game i go back to a lot is called 'Stars'. a lot of text, basic but usable graphics and months of game play....

Not sure if its still in the shops but well worth playing.

X3, Probably has more management involved than any other game. Once you get factories, supply ships, battle fleet up and running.

Try Constructor! fun property development/management games. Sending in gangs of skinheads to get rid of rival landlords tenants is great fun, sure it was an old Bullfrog game.

Stars looks interesting, though is probably a little hard to find now :(
X3 and Civ IV (I assume you mean 4 ;)) I'll look into. I've only played the original civ (back on my old 486) but certainly enjoyed it, along with colonisation, Alpha centurai and Gal civ 2.
Contructor I've heard of, though didn't realise it was by bullfrog. I'll try and hunt that down, as it should be pretty cheap since its so old. Right? :P

if you go for X3, get it on steam. that way you wont have to install starforce on your machine (although the non steam versions how have a patch to play without starforce, idealy you dont want starforce on your machine anyway).
