I have been looking for a strategy game with no set goals, that doesnt necessarily revolve around fighting. I thought sins of a solar empire would fit the bill - develop planets, manage resources etc but in the end it still all comes down to fighting. The only strategy game i have ever owned that remotely fits the bill is simCity - but i've played that to death over the years!

Sins is a good game....if you dont mind one game taking days .

Im gonna wait for DOW2 myself, since the 1st one with its expansions was a pretty awesome rts

I think i'll look at getting Civ4 and give it a go - hopefully i'll find it on the cheap somewhere! Thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated.

Well, got Civ 4 'complete' edition (2 add on packs) from the rainforest shop for £10 - seemed like a pretty good deal to me! Might have a look at the free transport tycoon for a little bit of retro action! Cheers guys.
