i've tried BAR but not given it the time if i'm honest. i need to go back to it. it feels.... Slow some how when i last played, maybe i'm mixing with Zero-k.
used to love Total Annihilation but i'e been spoiled i think.
later in the year i'll give it anbother round though.
 

Majesty 2 collection.pick it up for peanuts too.Not everyones cup of tea but i thoroughly enjoyed it.The indirect control might put you off though.(It shouldnt as theres plenty of strategy here).​

i did forget to add the warzone 20xx series - warzone 2100 (this one free & a classic with community support behind it as i remember, it also has a Portable Version to)
Perimeter - has a differant unit mechanic & sort of reminds me of Creepworld

some upcomning titles if you can wait a bit, each differant in ways to the others:

Desynced
Falling Frontier
Tempest Rising

Interesting, can't say I found it particularly slow (gets very chaotic later on!), but I guess it depends what your used to
 
i aim to give it a proper try when i've sorted my PC set up out.
i think i only managed something like 2 half games i.e. enough to test it works. i was a bit apprehensive as it was the first time i heard about it at the time and thought it might have been something dodgy.

At the moment i only have access to a tablet machine so not really good for graphics. my poor little machine is struggling even with FAF :'(
my remote machine with noisy GPU isnt so good for this sort of thing oddly so a but in limbo right at moment
update - i just tried it onthe tablet, it plays ok enough but it needs a better machine for me to properly play, the microlag will annoy me on this system.
i think i must be crossing my games and getting confused as to what game i was thinking of.

UI needs some work but playable for sure.
