Strava?

I used Strava originally to log my rides with my phone but now I've got my Garmin I use Garmin Connect which does what Strava does, with a few premium features, so I'm not sure why I use Strava anymore.

The fascination with segments and leaderboards has now thoroughly worn off though.

I'm concerned with it insofar as my times are improving compared to my times. I'm not good enough to be remotely competitive, so I'm not arsed with that.

I quite enjoy comparing my times against my RL friends that cycle and use Strava but we're not in any kind of serious competition about it. The main thing I use it for is logging miles, trying to improve my speed and logging the routes I take so I can more easily work out more enjoyable ones to use in future.

I like the "social network" side of it.
It's much better than garmin for seeing what your friends are doing and having discussions about rides + routes.

I "stalk" some people that I've passed - or more often been passed by :D - while out riding, like if I ride a mile or two with someone I might add them and then keep an eye on where they go, to get ideas for rides. It's good to get some new ideas, and you can chat about where to go.

One of my mates who I ride with, who is a bit of a beast with like 50 KoMs, is currently having loads of back and forth with some cocky mate of his who has literally just got a bike and is banging on about how he's going to get all my mate's KoMs. He's been going on about one segment in particular, where my mate is currently second, saying he's going to beat him, but so far he's not even close, like 1:58 compared to my mate's 1:24. I went out in the rain last night and gave it a crack and got tenth place with 1:42 on my first try :D

how do you even find out who you rode past anyway?
You can list all times on a segment for a specific time frame?

I'd be curious to see where some people I pass fairly often are going as they must just be doing a loop somewhere like me
