Streaming services - Confused

TBF I am getting the sky package for £32.50 now so I don't really use anything else. We have access to Netflix but it sits unused most the time. I use google to find films that I want to watch and see what service they on.

Netflix is handy because I use and so do my parents and little bro so is handy if like 3 groups split the cost between you at £3 each a month. So all in all I am at £35.50 with a good selection overall. Lots of good box sets on Sky and Netflix that are different to one another, movies are generally better on Sky but not by much in honesty.

Sky also has a lot more UHD on way and some already there.

I get amazon prime video for free (using a little trick I know). I would never pay for it I think it's that poor. Free delivery is good but again I think that £80 could go towards say 2 ps4 games and I can wait 2 days for delivery rather than 1.

Netflix is slightly better IMO but again i would possibly subscribe whenever they offer a free month then cancel.

Sky has the best of everything IMO. You can watch all the latest shows. Record them in HD. Upscale to 4K. All the latest movies if you want to sub to movies. All the latest sports if you sub to sports. Even forgetting movies and sports. it has around 200+ channels of content. Fox, Sky Atlantic, Sky1, SyFy, etc. None of it however is 4K.

This is the current problem. We are having 4K tv's rammed down our throats with no decent 1080p models on offer. however there is next to zero 4K content.

I have Sky Q silver and there is a handful of shows you need to download and I'm not really interested in any of them but I may watch 1 of them to test it out.

Basically you need to forget about 4K content for the moment. Buy whatever it is you want to watch.

Quick question for NOW TV aficionados - what happens to stuff that says 'available until ...' after that date, will it definitely disappear? For how long?

I'd quite like to rewatch LOST but it's only available for a couple of months apparently, will need to average two episodes per day every day to make it. :(

will disappear until they ever decide to buy the rights again.

my wife was in the middle of desperate housewives and it vanished about 5 months ago and hasn't been seen since.

original thread title seems relevant -

Anyone else noticed that picture quality is better for live ITV4 using the ITV player streaming app than watching Freeview itself off of terrestrial ariel ?
so I need to change my viewiing habits;
I guess the bitrate or codec is better, this is with a roku running the app. I never use windows/PC version of the app which seems unreliable/stuttering.

Also - bonus question - has anyone understood freeview ITV4+1 channel, it is in epg listing but never broadcasts.
