Streaming to TV

Im about to move into a house for next year (university). Were planning on getting a big HDTV. Id like to be able to stream films/tv to this if possible from a computer. What would be the easiest/cheapest way to go about this?

could always just connect it with a dvi/hdmi cable or something similar? if the pc is close enough to the tv that is

if you have either an xbox or a ps3 with network connectivity then I would say use
tversity.

dont know if £160 cheap, but the popcorn a-110 a great media player, with plenty support. or try & pick one up second hand

TVersity tends not to work so well on the 360's. Though with a 360 you need no software. Just enable file sharing from within Windows Media Player 10 and you can stream to your xbox. It's how I watch films and listen to music from my PC to Xbox.

Pretty certain that, without faffing around and finding a compatible wireless usb stick, streaming is not something the WD thing can do out of the box - it plays from USB devices.

If you have a PS3 then I find PS3 Media Server far better than TVersity for streaming.

So do I. Both are good but I now only use PS3 Media Server, simple but works well with great quality
