Streaming tv, relay over a network to multiple users

Sorry, not sure which forum this should belong in, software, sports, network, etc

Anyways, anyone know if its possible to cache a stream and then relay that to multiple machines on a network.

Mostly thinking for the Euro's, and at work not having everyone individually streaming the same thing and stealing all the bandwidth. Not even sure if its possible / legal, and any searches i try come up with completely random results.

Anyone?

What you're looking to try and do is bring the steam in via your WAN once, then use a protocol called Multicast to send that out to hosts on your network.

VLC provides some tools for opening a video stream on a single PC, then converting it into a multicast stream for others to view

You will need to install the client on each machine but its a very good bit of software!
