Ok guys, to settle a bet.....

Ryu fires a more powerful fireball....

Ken has a better shoryuken......

Who has the longest hurricane kick?

My friend thinks Ryu.... I'm going with equal in SF2 but then kens has been better in more recent versions!

Solve :p

I thought the fireballs and hurricane kicks were both the same and Ken's dragon punch just swung out a little bit more than Ryu's.

I seem to recall in various versions that Ryu has a "Longer" Hurricane kick, in that he travels further across the screen. Is that what you mean?

Ryu's Hurricane kick knocks an opponent clean over and goes slightly further
Kens' Hurricane kick does lots of smaller consecutive hits.

Ryu's Shoryuken knocks and opponent straight over
Kens' Shoryuken can hit powerfully upto 3 times consecutively

I think both fireballs are roughly as powerful although in the Super street fighter 2 series ryu had a fire fireball that set an opponent on fire and knocked them straight over (i think)

Ken's dragon punch was stronger, Ryu's hurricane kick was better. Both fireballs were the same.

Pretty sure Ryu fireballs are better in someway, think he lag less lag after launching them.

Which version of SF2 are we talking about as many they change in each one.

From what I remember, Ken had a much stronger Dragon Punch, Ryu had the "inferno" fireballs in one of the special editions (Not sure which, one of the one's I played on the Megadrive had it) Hurricane Kicks as before, Ken's was a whapwhapwhapwhapwhap, Ryu's had more distance covered etc..

And just to add a 3rd guy in a ghi into the mix....Dan sucks!

Was always Ryu for the hurricane kicks, however Chun-li had the best moves and probably a better hurricane than Ken and not as good as Ryu.

As mentioned above, you need to be specific regarding which version of SF2.

In the original SF2 version, Ken and Ryu are identical wrt moves and power.

Some small differences were introduced with the Champions Edition; then in SSF2 Ryu got flaming fireballs as well as normal, and Ken got the flaming dragon punch that has a longer horizontal range in addition to details described by Fonz-Valo above...

Ryu's Hurricane kick knocks an opponent clean over and goes slightly further
Kens' Hurricane kick does lots of smaller consecutive hits.

Ryu's Shoryuken knocks and opponent straight over
Kens' Shoryuken can hit powerfully upto 3 times consecutively

Then in SSF2 Turbo, Ken get a load of new punches and kicks that are different to Ryu.

(Note, my experience is arcade editions.)

This man speaks the truth :)

He sure does. Shin Akuma does rock. If you want to basically win by rolling your face over the joypad and saying skill :p

Regular Akuma is fine though, but Shin Akuma is vastly over powered, especially in the alpha series, the double air fireball is enough to kill most players alone.

Personally I liked Evil Ryu, as he was a mix of regular Akuma and Ryu, about as strong as the 2 of them imo.

I think Kens Dragon Punch = better.
Ryu Fireball = Better
Hurrican Kick = same, they just work differently.

the shotokan characters for the win every time!!!

Except in the versus games where cable and rugal rain supreme!!
Especially ultra rugal

i always thought it was like this
Ryu - best fireball
ken - best dragon punch
Akuma - best hurricane kick

In terms of SF2, Akuma has the best Firebal, it sends opponents flying across the screen. Akuma's flaming fireball also hits oppenents three times.
