Stress free games

Any single player RPG such as Mass Effect series, Dragon Age series, Skyrim etc.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 (although parking stresses me out in that!)

Life Is Strange and similar story driven games.

Traditional adventures such as Day Of The Tentacle Remastered, Sam & Max etc.

Turn based strategy games - Civ V, Xcom etc.

Subnautica (if you turn off the need to worry about food and drink so you can just explore, otherwise it can get a bit stressy at times).

South park Stick Of Truth (if that brand of humour is your thing).

Minecraft,
Journey,
Any of the Telltale games apart from a the odd 30 second of button bashing pretty peaceful to play through,
ETS2 though you'll probably find yourself wanting a wheel after a while. Would recommend playing the MP as you don't have the stress of hitting other cars.

Doom 4 :D

It's fast paced demon smashing with massive guns levels of satisfaction.

Any single-player game where you can just wander around a big, beautiful world should do the trick. GTA V, Skyrim etc - although these days I can't imagine playing Skyrim unmodded and modding can be rather stressful...

I find playing Crusader Kings 2 on a slow speed pretty relaxing.

xcom, its turn based. Pretty stress free imo

If missing a 90% hit chance shotgun shot at point-blank range and seeing most of your squad die because of it doesn't get you stressed I don't know what will ;)

As most have already said, single player of a lot of games is mostly stress free. That being said, I've found Euro Truck Sim 2, Farming Sim 2013/2015 and GTA 5 as my go-to games. I put my own music on for ETS2/FS or just use the in-game stations on GTA5 whilst driving around, modding cars, enjoying the beautiful sunrises and sunsets in the game.

Walking Dead
Everyones gone to the Rapture
Firewatch
Dear Esther

And oddly enough now Star Wars Battlefront has single player, just keep it to normal, and play against the bots, incredibly easy and loads of fun.

Life is Strange is free on Steam for the first episode.

XCOM is not stress free, especially when I named two characters after my dogs and then they were wiped out in a single mission.. R.I.P Killer Susie & DeathEater Holly.. *sniff*

If by 'stress free' you also happen to mean 'non-annoying' I would point straight to Settlers 4 or Anno 1404, sandbox mode and without opponents.

Looking forward to No Man's Sky to fill this niche personally.

I came in here to post that, but didn't want to come across as a fanboy & get into an argument about a game that hasn't been released yet :p
