Strictly 2014 features a ringer

Oh dear this is terrible news, parliament should be recalled early to debate this.

I'm more upset that the BBC licence fee is still mandatory, yet they produce **** like this.

My wife (and ex-professional dancer) and I were looking at the images of who is in the line up for Strictly Come Dancing 2014 and she was surprised to see Caroline Flack. The reason is that Flack used to be 2 years below her when my wife studied dancing at the BodyWork Dance Company, where she (Flack) earned the nickname of "Twiglet". So, they get a load of "celebs" on, many of whom have never danced, and expect them to compete against a trained professional. To add insult to injury, Flack even won the BBC3 "Dancing on wheels" show where she danced ballroom with her wheelchair bound profesional partner. They even went to a European Championship.

I've watched two series now and there have been trained dancers/ringers in each series which makes me wonder what the point of obviously rigging the show is?

Seems the Daily Mail reads this forum and your famous, sort of..

Word for Word...

I guess it's nice to see that the DM have reporters keeping up to date with things on forums :p

I'm also surprised that it would be news to the DM, if the woman is an actress her qualifications will be on her CV listed with her agent etc, and probably only a few minutes research away.
As I think has been said many times, most actresses and many presenters will have attended things like stage school* or dance school, or at the very least done some "performing arts" style education at some point, it's one of the ways to get into show business (about the only presenters who probably won't have fairly routinely gone that route would be the "serious" ones such as business and science).

*Which I believe usually has dance as a standard feature of the curriculum.

What is the point of the show anyway? its like xfactor, low level entertainment, what people like about the series is that it makes them feel better about themselves to see other people make a fool of themselves and get humiliated.

9 million people watched xfactor, these same people are voting for the politicians....

As a strictly fan i take huge objection to this. I hate pretty much every other reality tv show (especially x factor). However, strictly is brilliant. If you watch it you realise it does not take itself seriously AT all. The whole thing is a great laugh and there are a lot of hugely talented people involved (Dave Arch's band, the professional dancers etc). The judges for the most part talk sense and are pretty amusing.

I actually think its one of the least offensive things on tv.

The only downsides are Claudia Winkleface (much better with Brucy), the odd celebrity that takes it too seriously and the ****ing audience that gives a standing ovation to every dance.

Also, at least a few of the celebrity woman and most of the dancers are hot and often dance around wearing very little...

And she won it. 16/1 at the start. Remember telling my dad about this post and to get a bet on it but neither of us did. Balls.

I'm not sure I would classify Strictly as Reality Television. That's stuff like Keeping Up With The Kardashians etc, surely? Strictly is more of a celebrity game show if anything.

I love strictly!! :D

Its one of the few (Strictly and The Appearance) reality TV that I watch. Thou I haven't watched strictly in a few years apart from a few episodes... As guilty feet have got no rhythm...
