Strike Back

I always thought the first season felt like a British TV show, clever and slower moving and then the rest of the seasons were very much an American TV show, albeit a well done one which I still thoroughly enjoy (and just remembered Tywin Lannister was the bad guy!).

And you would be right!
The first season was done by Sky alone and then the second season onwards was a joint venture with Sky/Cinemax (according to wiki).

I liked the last episode as a finale but there were more than one occasion during the season when it just didn't feel the same, i even cringed a few times.

Yeah just watched the last few episodes of S5 last night, it was good but not great. Porter series was good , but S3/S4 were the best imo

I really like Rhona - but Michelle Lukes was delightful :D

I think the final season had too many scenes with trained army/mercenary people wielding automatic weapons they didn't couldn't hit a barn door with. A couple of scenes like that fair enough but every single one?

Still enjoyed it and shame it's gone.

I've just started watching Strike Back: Retribution on catchup. The two male leads don't have as good chemistry and the previous two. However, I'm very much enjoying it for what it is: all of the action parts of 24 on steroids. Brain off. Roxanne McKee. Guns. Boobs. Etc. Perfect hangover programme :D.

I didn't enjoy this season compared to the previous ones, and sticking a gap down the middle of 10 episodes felt odd.

Really couldn't get into the latest season, probably just missing the old leads but felt overly cheesy & even more OTT than the older ones - maybe I was being a bit harsh, I might give it another try without the wife lol :D

My mate has been raving about this and told me that I'd also love it. So I watch a few episodes of S1 and a few of the latest season and it's all a load of utter pap. My mate also recommended "Our Girl" and while S1 was OK, S2 onwards with Michelle Keegan was, again, utter tripe.

My mate has now stopped recommending TV shows to me :D

Are you sure he's not just recommending you shows with 'pretty' army women?

He knows I'm ex-military so I think he likes to recommend that stuff as he assumes I'll also like it, despite the programs all being soap operas rather than a modern version of Band of Brothers like he seems to think they are :D

Out of all the UK-based military/TV stuff I've seen BlueStone 42 is probably the most accurate in humour if a bit meh in the battle stuff though :D

Still upset that they cancelled Bluestone 42, granted s3 lost it's way slightly but it was a decent show.

this sums it up for me - loved all the old series but this was just cheesy, poor acting - a pale imitation of the previous show.

No one watching the current season? Loving it so far, providing you class it as guilty pleasure and don't scrutinize the plot too much :p. Pew, pew and decent set locations as always .

It feels as if there's a 90% chance every time a man and a woman are in the same scene/room, they'll **** :p.
