Strikeforce: Fedor vs Rogers

Fantastic. I was worried they'd stop the fight in the first round because of his nose bleed. Or that fedor would go down like crocop did, but he's still the beast he ever was. Amazing fighter.

That was an awesome match, Fedor took a beating on the ground late in the round. But what a way to finish it.

I don't think he took much of beating really, a couple of punches here and there are all either landed. Fedor just bleeds everywhere if you touch him, he almost looked like he was bleeding before the fight started. Remember woogie and others making him bleed everywhere from one punch also, his skin is paper.

Nice punch, probably a tad early with the stoppage but he was more than likely about to get pounded and hurt. Brett did well out of this despite losing it made him look good, I think Fedor is a little on the small side for HW now, they could do with a 225 dvision for him and quite a few others, these true 265's are so big.

Good fights tonight, shields is very good but a bit boring, he's like gsp but without the great offence.

Great main event, Fedor still proving he is the man.

Shields is a really poor man's GSP, half decent wrestling, top control and non-existent striking, but not once did he even threaten to finish the fight. If only Mayhem had another 10 seconds at the end of the round to sink in the choke it would have been all over.

 what a main event. Brett Rogers got nothing to be ashamed of, look forward to a rematch between the two.

That punch was just epic, I was shocked that Rogers wasn't out cold after hitting the deck.

I'm still gutted that the Fedor vs Barnett fight fell through. Barnett - although a steriod monkey - was a legitimate heavy weight threat to Fedor, and in my opinion it would have been a fantastic fight.

Its a shame that Fedor vs Brock will probably never happen, Brock is a legitimate threat as he has the size and the power to control Fedor on the ground (if he can get him there) - and he is far more skilled at doing it than Rogers would be. Fedor is awesome though - he has that air of invincibility about him that even when he is in trouble - you cant help but feel he is going to win it.

I'm extremely impressed with Gegard Mousasi (sp?) - wasnt a vintange performance against Sokodju last night, but he took a dangerous fighter and took him out convincingly.

look forward to a rematch between the two..

I dont think you will be getting a rematch anytime soon! I agree Rogers looked good but in no way was this a controversial decision - it was decisive!!!

Look for Fedor to fight every "top" heavyweight in Strikeforce before being awarded the interim title given that Overeem doesnt like defending his title......ever!

StevieP

Overeem wants to fight him in Japan... He's definitely not roided to death though.

Can't tell if your being sarcastic or not since this is the interwebz :D But it doesn't take a genius to figure out why he wants him to fight in Japan though :o

Edit: Just found the first footage for the EA MMA game with Fedor and most fighters outside of the UFC in it.

Ignore the bit about Phil Ivey the poker guy haha :D

Pretty decent event that Strikeforce put on, bar the Jake Shields fight.

Mousasi continues to impress, it's surely only a matter of time before he steps into the UFC!

As for Fedor, awesome devastating right hand to finish Rogers. The problem for Fedor is that until he fights the top, top guys, there will always be doubters out there.

Not necessarily a problem to him, but if he genuinely wants to go down in history as the greatest HW (any weight?) of all time he's going to need to fight the likes of Lesnar, Carwin, Velasquez.

I don't really see these 3 as that significant really. They are not well rounded and are all pretty one dimensional imo. Fedor can take you down, knock you down, knock you out, GnP you, take a shot (however I reckon I could cut him though in all fairness), submit you from offence and defence, he can even submit you with a flying armbar which is quite impressive for a HW. The only chance the I would give someone like Brock against him is due to Brocks size whilst retaining speed. I still think Brock would get leg locked quite quickly against Fedor. I truly think if Fedor was to be challenged it would be more likely if he was to drop 20lbs. I actually think the more skilled LHW would pose him more problems and I suspect a lot of those LHW actually walk around not far off from what Fedor does as Fedor doesn't ever need to cut weight.

fedor has done it all and if he needs to fight lesnar to prove he is the greatest then by definition you think lesnar is the best? Physically he is a beast but he has a long way to go before he can be considered fedors peer. Fedor has an all round game he can do it standing or on the ground and he can take a LOT of punishment. The only reason there are doubters is because he is not in the UFC. He has fought plenty of UFC champions.
