A friends striker extreme died on fri . So whilst we wait to rma it we need to spec a cheapish replacement ddr2 board as a stop gap till his gets sorted.
What i was unsure about is he`s running a gtx 280 and didnt know if any socket 775 board would do ? i also heard some boards have issues with capacitors and the like stopping the 280 from fitting .He`s running q6600Hope thats all the info anyone needs .

prob best looking at a P43 board, gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L , though at £80 its not exactly a cheap stop gap, when you could get a permanent replacement for twice that, unless you're meaning a stop gap til you go i7

Just need a replacement till board is rma`d . I was expecting the board to take about a month to be rma`d . It would then be used as a spare in case it happened agian . So maybe 80 quid is abit much , but a month without a pc wouldnt be good either.

I am having a terrible time with ASUS

I am having a terrible time with ASUS motherboard the new Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 (Not bought from Overclockers) it was D.O.A, and was to be returned to ASUS by the supplier I bought it from that was on the 4th December 2008 and I am still waiting!:mad::mad::mad::mad: Hope you don't wait so long.
