Striker II Formula

I've already had some problems using this board, mostly posting issues where it hangs at CPU INIT or DET IDE. I've had it all out of the case, on the desk and stripped down to test different sticks of RAM (PC2-8500 and PC2-9136), upgraded to BIOS 0902. I've also tried all of my components except CPU in my old M2N32-SLI Deluxe and everything checks out OK including my Tagan 1100W PSU.

My first board would not post at all, hanging on either cpu init or dram init. I returned it to overclockers for an exchange and the new board is working perfectly.
Unfortunately I am such an idiot that I sent back my cpu cooler's backing plate still attached to the mobo! I mailed ocuk and they said they'd return it but it didn't make it home so my overclocking ambitions are waiting on my buying a whole new cooler lol.

I've posted a technical inquiry with Asus over a week ago now and no reply. I also RMA'd the board but I've been told the board is OK. I'm using QX9650 and Corsair PC2-8500, do I need to set the voltages manually, I've read a couple of posts where people claim to be running this board successfully with this CPU and RAM, has anybody got any tips on this setup.

BSOD, hanging, memory, cpu, and network adpater issues too!

I have also had loads and loads of issues with this board.

- A large majority of the time I can't even make it to POST, and after serveral restarts (5+) it gets through post. Why does this happen, i have never know a PC to crash before it gets to this stage.
- I have issues with it getting suck on DET IDE.
- Underclocking my memory by loads.
- Making my QX9650 really slow, 50% slower than it should be.
- When setting the memory setting manually, Vista hangs, BSODs etc..
- The latest issue is that the network adapters don't seem to be picking up any network!

The BIOS update I performed last night (902) looks to have solved the problem I was having with the memory issues and the hangs/BSODs, and also my CPU seems to be closely matching the spec found in SiSoft.:) So this does improve things slightly. But come to turn on the PC this morning, everything looks to be running fine, but no network!
Have uninstalled the drivers, re-installed, set IP addresses manually, have checked my other networking hardware - but nothing seems to be working!

I think i am going to (at least) put down about ~40+% of the problems to Vista! Therefore I think to solve the latest problem, re-install Vista, see if that fixes it, and if so, then Vista is the culpret, otherwise I am afraid I will be RMA'ing this board. :(

Been there and done all above, also get LCD screen perm lit up as old Striker E as of ACPI Device Driver (I set it to go out after Post) and it gives me errors about EIDE and CPU Speed and Updt DMI.

This Mobo is a POS, I had to take a day off as I was sick to the back teeth of it and Asus were on holiday as New Year over there.

To get the NIC back working (you cant even query Modem with it) keep reseting Bios on Rear button (dont need pull battery and loose time) and it will eventually work, but sometimes the Sata Ports esp 1 and 2 go missing and you get an error.

Im sorry if im always preaching about EVGA/XFX 780i mobos but...

I've had a two Asus/Nforce boards which caused me so much hassle, when i had problems i tried installing different ram, reflashing bios, sometimes windows would boot sometimes it wouldnt, random crashes, north bridge overheating, TriSLI not working, nearly cooked my GTX's for some reason. And all this without even attempting to overclock it.

After this i tried an XFX 780i, dropped in all my components and everyting worked straight away, not the slightest hiccup, overclocking is easy and the board is rock stable.

They are all crap, XFX aint even a good brand and that loud fan on the ref design is a joke, at least with EVGA you will get good support.

XFX and EVGA have not done anything to the Mobo, its Nvidia's Mobo with them selling it with their name on it.
IMO the MSI is the best so far.

I have has Asus NF 2/3/4/5's for myself and customers builds, and only the Crosshair (NF5 but pushed far too far) and the NF6/7 are bad, and thats mostly down to Nvidia not Asus.

The 780i looks like a DoDo, if the 790 is the same Nvidia dont deserve to be in the Mobo Chipset market.

I haven't braved overclocking yet so maybe have some of your despair to come, but I have to say that after my first dead board was replaced I have had no problems with the second. It seems from the posts here that they have some real QA issues.
My only disappointment so far is that the supplied windows program to allow you to ramp up your processor speed without playing directly with the bios has been only a limited success. It happily let me change gear to take my 6600 to 6700 speeds but above that it doesn't post. Will try to improve upon that once I have plucked up enough courage to go beyond reading here and actually get tinkering.

This works WOW!:) But for how long though!...

Lets hope Asus can get their act together and release one hell of a BIOS revision!
