hey ...i got the tuniq in eventually. was a total mission becuase of the big copper heatpipe the striker has, this made it tricky to tighten up the big brass srews through the H-plate. ended up using a pair of pliers to tighten them as i couldnt get my fingers in there.

oh well...its now in and its knocked about 20 degrees off my cpu temp. le the overclocking commence.

cheers cyz, ill try those settings now.

wooah there! ive just read thoses settings a bit more carefully. thats all a wee bit high isnt it?? thats gonna run it at 3.6ghz. what happened to little steps?

If you could try those settings and let know the out come.

The little steps have been trodden to an extent, although it would be useful to gauge the motherboard ;).

If the those settings above work nicely and pass prime. We can look at reducing various voltages to reduce temps;)

What are your temps with the new cooler at stock?

theft of post!!!!

there my settings from another thread,

just been playing crysis for 3 hours in windowd mode and my temps never went above 65 degrees.

ok that's a q6600 and the bios is 1303 but it's solid as a rock at 3.6....... i don't want anything more tbh

ahh thats encouraging. hmm crysis is pretty demanding if one things going to kill it is that. my sound seems to have dissappeared since i put the machine back together. as soon as i fix that ill ill try those settings. phoenix, what cooling are you using?

currently using an aeroflower of all things, however it's not in a case just sat on a piece of mdf!

getting a kandalf LCS case on thursday and water cooling it tho'

i think im going to bench this thing at the stock settings so i know what an improvement it has made. nice! i like a bit of DIY. my case is awesome i wasnt keen on the kandalf. i went with the legendary mirage 62 best £100 i ever spent on a case.

pheonix - my gtx struggles a little with the assualt stage in crysis and the bit just before, the snowy room when you find the dig sight. how does yours cope? i am running it at 1920 x 1200 on a 24inch screen though. the rest of the game played through fine. im at the assualt stage so dnt give anything away after that!

from 2.7ghz to 3.6 ghz i have managed just over 1500 extra marks in 3dmark and the only thing faster in the everests cpu tests is a 8x xeon system..... however in one of the tests in everest (the photo one i don't remember what it's called exactly) my mates phenom trounces me!

i wasn't complaining.... they actualy came from sli forums but i was stupid enough to test them and they worked!

All those setting are from Extreme from the extreme members (19/9/07) (original sources)

There are 8 more settings i can give bear to try. recommended from the same source. But i take my time to read all of the posts and gauge "what will work and not work"

And if you actually look at any of my posts i have always referenced my sources. Your Bios settings are not yours but lifted from extreme

An apology is more forth coming imo

ok sorry but still chill i'm not attacking you, i just hope it helps bear out :)

and even though they came from elsware they are now MY bios settings too! ;)

you added to your post,

when i was playing crysis through i was running a e6700 @ 3.2Ghz (now playing multiplayer)

no issues with the frozen bit (relic i think it was called) but there was some stutter at the start of assault, might have to replay when it's all cooled and in a box!

bear with the Vcore setting above at 1.55 the vdroop associated with the striker will equate to 0.09 (1.55-0.09=1.46v)

Apparently 400 FSB will not work owing to "FSB holes'" and it puts too much stress on the NB it seems !! (even when using Bios 1303)

(As Helmut stated "numerous FSB Holes" )

alternatively FSB of 413, 425, or 450 FSB for quads will work

If you use the extreme link (reputable source) above and read all the posts you will be able to gauge the various OC recommendations. It would appear at multi of 9 and above will not exceed 3.2Ghz. (The sweet spot for quads appears to be 1800FSB)

X8 multi will achieve 3.6-3.8Ghz take note of Inflas and NBK posts and settings recommendations. The higher OC at x9 multi are either under water or LN2, or Phase

Take exceptional note of the various voltages used especially over the north bridge this will be your playground especially if you want to add further 2Gb modules into the system.

The thermal paste on your Tuniq will require at least a week to "cure" ~further temperature reduction.

My advice is to allow the curing process to take hold and re-start your over clock.

Good luck m8 and post back at a later date to let me know how it pan outs

hmm thats weird. i tried those settings and i think theres a glitch in the bios. it got a bit stuck and tried to tell me the chip was a 2,13ghz so i reset it to defaults and rebooted then it told me it was 2.45ghz then i powerd it down, waited a couple of minutes and rebooted. this time it reported it correctly.

If you try those same settings but change the multi to x9 and post back your findings

This striker is a play ground. It will take numerous of settings to find a balance with this board "lots of chopping and changing".

Can you memtest the memory modules down load http http://www.memtest86.com/ Download the current ISO version

further info http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic62524.html

Test the modules for stability "eliminating any possible associated errors". "Leave to run over night"

I would also do the Pencil Vdrop/Vdroop, your Volts you set in Bios will be exactly the same in Windows and not droop on load.

Also seems to affect other voltages.
