stripping ads out of youtube on chrome

anyone recommend a way to do this, since having kids we use you tube a lot the ads wind me up and would like to bypass
 
I used to use ad block but then i got into liking a bunch of channels and without adds these channels would not be so i don't have them any more. i would rather have adds and good content rather than crap content and no adds.

There is a discussion about this by two prolific youtubers CGP Grey and Brady Haran here > http://www.hellointernet.fm/podcast/5 and they are undecided if they are a bad thing.

I too am in the moral dilemma of liking many channels that are supported by these ads but not wanting to watch them
