Stronglifts log

It is possible, its essentially body re-composition, but its not a fast process. How many cals are you consuming at the moment?

just done a quick calc using mfp and it looks like about 2100 made up of 42%carb 38% protein 20% fat not including coffees etc

Wahoo got my 85kg squat, form wasnt perfect on the last set but still happy, also made my 50kg bench but failed on 5/5/5/4/4 on the row

As you get nearer 100% effort breathing and core bracing becomes more and more important, to give yourself that reassurance and stability at the top end make sure you are taking in a breath on each rep that is bracing your core (not just lifting your chest).

Have a watch of this (long but worth it):

so today is 87.5kg any advice as going into it a bit nervous.

What are you nervous about?

- Is the bar going to crush you? No.
- Are you going to put your back out? No, but if you lift like an idiot, you stand a better chance of giving it a good shot.
- Is it going to be easy? No.
- Are you going to suck it up and deal with it? This is the only question than needs answering. ;) :D

If you don't think you can lift the weight at this point, you won't lift it in the gym: the battle with the lift starts a long time before you actually get anywhere near it.

YEAAAA BUDDY! LIGHT WEIGHT, BABY! AINT NOTHING BUT A PEANUT!

Just psych yourself up. Ronnie Coleman vids are hilarious for getting you motivated - he's also pretty strong, even if hes a million miles from natty.

Well that didnt go brilliantly

5/5/3/1/3 @ 90kg rather sore now bench and row this evening then 3 day rest watching the masters a round of golf saturday then hit it again sunday

I have been on and off with stronglifts, but getting back into it now

It's bench that is really annoying , It took me about 6month last year to get to bench 5x5 72.5Kg, having been away from free weights for about 6month now I am really struggling at 65Kg 5x5.

I can definitely do 62.5Kg 5x5 but it's almost like I have to get out of bed the right side to confidently complete 5x5 at 65Kg. Anyone got any tips? or should I just plough on through?

Was at gym just and done Squat 5x5 at 95Kg, Deadlift 1x5 90Kg, OHP 5x5 42.5Kg. I personally love stronglifts, I've never been one that is interested in curling for 2hrs.

Eat more. Or change programs - SL normally progresses to 5x3 instead of 5x5, or it progresses to Madcows 531.

Well not sure what happeneing today but my final 2 sets on bench i went to 70kg and squats went up to 100kg for last 3 sets.

Ill be happy to see if i can get all 5 sets at that next week

Back again, I took a week off partly due to major post masters hangover partly because my form was just awful and I didn't feel I was progressing cleanly and also cause I was getting plenty of exercise in due to playing golf a couple times during the week and not getting rest days.

So I did as the app suggested and deloaded on sunday which meant dropping back down to 80kg on the squats. Hit the gym with renewed vigour thinking this'l be easy.... and it was, kinda form was massively improved I didn't realize how off I was before the rest week and tbh im really glad I did it, however monday morning came as did the aching quads, feeling great that improved form has helped me hit the right muscles I was looking forward to today until that was when I got out of bed this morning, damn I could hardly walk serious quad doms.
Undeterred I hit the lunch squats anyway, well that failed 5/1/5/3/3 total collapse on the quads at the bottom just could not get back up.

So all in a little disappointed that my top weights have dropped however massively happy that my form has hit the quads now so looking forward to the next few weeks of proper gains, assuming I can walk lol.

All in all if you feel like your weight increases are out gunning your real gains I highly recommend taking a week off to recover and deload to dial that form in right, its amazing how quickly it can slip and you end up lifting with no real gain, i'm really glad I did

So Ive restarted after having a real bad few weeks of flu where I lost all energy and motivation

First day back in the gym this weekend trying to work on form and restart the gain and progress after dropping down to just 74kg b/w

So ready for a flaming form check vid set 4 of just 60kg cant see any major back rounding and bar seems to be going down square, seems to be a little bit of rowing / rocking at the bottom of a couple of them but im ready for a roasting
