stuck between 2 cards >.<'

The 512 GTS is slightly newer and faster than the GT. Its only about 10% faster, pulling away at higher resolutions, but what made me go for it is the improved cooler; I'd feel more comfortable overclocking with the GTS fan than the GT, as its a much cooler quieter design it seems, so you might get a better clock out of the GTS anyway, and if not its got less chance of dying from heat and is faster in the first place.

darn it! 10% faster hmmm doesn't seem worth extra for that bit then again better cooling, dammit decisions decisions! Physical size, are they roughly the same?

BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB
or
PNY GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB

Would like some help as I would like to overclock the GFX card soon after I buy them but which would be better and also are the GTS newer than the GT's?
Thanks in advanced

I would go with the GT. It is cheaper and performs very well, not quite on par with the GTS but has proved to be a good overclocker.

However, as you may already know, the stock cooler on the GT has proven to be noisy and not very efficient. Some GT cards have started to ship with an improved cooler but I'm not sure if this includes BFG cards.

Get either the leadtek or the asus 8800GTs, the leadtek comes with the newer GT heatsink which is cooler + quieter and the asus has a custom cooler that cools the GPU very well.

A GTS is nice and all, but now that the cooling issues with the GT are beginning to be solved i can't really justify the price anymore.

After some tinkerage with fan profiling in rivatuner the new leadtek doesnt go above 60C when overclocked to 680/1700/1800 and scanning in ATI tool

which is nice

To be honest, buying a GT for £165, selling it later at @£100ish, and buying a newer 9800-type card makes more sense to me than paying an extra £50 now. If you've got the money, then sure, but if you're on a budget, then I personally don't think it's worth the extra. (although do take into account you might be able to flog the GTS for more later, and recoup the difference)

If you play at high res and like AA get the GTS (or better GTX) if you are happy at medium res 1280/1024 then go with the GT.

I actually find the GT is good for reasonable AA levels (4x in most of my newish games) at 1600x1200. :)
