I actually hate college, the whole experience is just dire.

Yea sure my friends are a good laugh but the teachers and the work is just meh :( - To top it off there is no nice birds, the whole campus is a sausage fest.

I have no motivation towards academic studies anymore, what i do find motivation for is working and earning money. Pushing my self physically and mentally to a point that i would like to join the RAF or the ARMY.

I'm basically looking for advice over an internet forum :(

Did anyone find college boring, stop and just work hard in the real world? Join the ARMY?

Any regrets?

Cause im seriously thinking about joining the services because I've been to army training weekends and loved it, yea you get treated like **** but tbh that doesn't bother me.

I can't just sit in a room and study, i want to be out there doing more interesting things.

Fed up :(

You doing A-Levels? Would be good to just do it and get them under your belt then apply for the RAF.

I hate college also, but I get on with it - after it'll be a lot more rewarding - I'm certainly looking forward to it ending :p

Get your A levels, go to uni, join the TA while you're there and become an officer :)

Much easier route, than going straight in as a squaddie surely.

ahah i got fed up of college just before christmas... packed it in for 2 weeks - worst mistake i ever made

if you want to go onto uni this is really the best way, just have a laugh with mates, do the work then go home and do that interesting stuff on weekends... or any weekdays you might get off (im only in mon/tue/wed)

you woudl really need to think about what else you could do instead and when/if you could do it

army/raf sound like good alternatives though :)

gl choosing... i do advise you to put some serious thought into it before leaving though

Talked to them, talked to my whole family, they want me to spend god knows how many years in education and i DON'T.

I've been wanting to join the Army since i was 15 but the family held me back, i respect their opinion but it is something i can see myself enjoying.

---

Yes i'm doing A Levels but i really don't enjoy it - Sitting in a room 4 days a week doing boring **** all day.

Meeeeh :(

Same.
6th form for me is just boring.
Lesson boring, common room ok, get to have a laugh with the guys then back to lesson.
It just feels so repetitive.

The only thing which is making me stay in, is the reward of Uni and meeting new people and getting a decent job.

my bf went to college a few years back after his gcses, got fed up and dropped out and got a job. His job was so rubbish, hes now gone back to college to start an entirely new career direction and realises that its much better to stick it out than end up in a **** job. he also hates it and finds it really boring but its worth it in the end!

I'd advise finishing your A Levels first, even as it may help your career in the Army. But ultimately the choice is yours to make, just think carefully about what you want to do.

Hah, enjoy it while you can because 45 years of work is no better :D

If your tempted to try the forces go for it, your young and the world isn't centered around qualifications before 21 then work until retirement any more - you can do your time in the forces then go to college as a mature student if that tickles your fancy.

You'll certainly have more stories to tell :)

Have you thought about doing an apprenticeship in some sort of engineering or other outdoor job?

As for forces no Idea. All my friends which joined left when they could. Apart from a marine which we never see any more. They did get to see the world. especially the ones in the navy. 6 month cruises around the carabean, sounds great to me and usually hundreads of miles away from the fighting.

Same boat, been at college since September. I've just lost interest, i thought i would enjoy ICT & Business as i was reasonably good at them at GCSE level. I'm only sticking it out for the wild uni parties when i turn 18.
P.s No good birds here either :( All my classes are full of people who are scared of engaging in conversations :/

I know exactly how you feel in regards to the armed forces, I do however recommend finishing college first. It'll set you apart from other recruits and open up the possibility of joining the Royal Marines or at least as an Officer.

I want to do something with my life, not just be another man in the city doing some desk job.

I want to feel like im doing something, actually feel alive.

Think im an adrenaline junkie or something :s

^lol that said "quoted for truth"

talk to the army recruiters and see what they say. but are you sure the grass is greener? i'm sure there are some fun bits in the army (just like in other stuff) but equally I bet there are some really nasty bits that have to be endured in worse conditions than you'd have where you are...

my advice: take no rash decisions, talk to as many people as possible - then decide.

Well when you go to the army i think they put you through study just as hard as college. Or at least thats what i think my mate said once about the army or somit like the forces.

I'm not sure whether A-levels actually make any difference for that kind of job. A degree yes, but A-levels alone usually don't. Do check the recruitment websites for the military though, as each role is different.

They do. It's the difference between being a grunt and an officer.
