My girlfriend is looking for a student card, she thinks she isn't eligible for a UCAS card as she has completed a two year college course. She will going back to college in September to do a foundation degree course, but she is only aged 18. Can she use this card: http://www.isiccard.com/can_i_get_one.asp ? Will it still offer the same discounts as the UCAS card?

ISIC is an international Student Card - you can get them from STA Travel.

If you are meaning NUS card she needs to see her Student's Union to get another one.

Arrrr, the International Student Identity Cards :D

I remember the amount of people at school who had fake ones of these as IDs and these were before the days of having to have a prove it card or driving license.

Surely NUS or college specific cards would be most appropriate?

Depends if retailers offer "NUS" discounts or "student" discounts.

As far as I am aware, the ISIC card is only good if you are going travelling.

You keep saying UCAS but I think you mean NUS and normal student discounts e.g. 10% off at Topshop are based on the NUS card and she will most probably have to go back to her Student's Union to get a replacement/new one in September.
