I have heard that I need to contact my council otherwise I will have to pay way more that £3000 a year on tuition fees. I am filling in my application to studentfinance, is there anything else I need to do?

It's all rather confusing.

tuition fees are down to the uni not the council so as long as you fill the forms in correctly and say you want the tuition fees loan or whatever its called you should be fine

Yea student finance will sort it for you, those forms & stuff you get through your door when you are accepted at the Uni etc have the details in them.

I think your supposed to read them /sarcasm (sorry)

Just fill in your student finance forms and get them off in time and everything will get sorted out before/when you enrol on your course at uni.

Everyone has to pay the £3000 at uni for tuitition fees now although sometimes you will be given a maintenance grant if you are from a low income family.

My antivirus just went a bit weird over your sig, and did it again when I accessed your public profile?

You have to hand it in to your local council offices by this friday as they handle all finance applications (well they do here as I have to give it in to mine tomorrow). As long as you've got the correct info you should be fine.

To add to the above - it's a myth. They tell you things like this so they can organise the forms easier. Hand it in whenever you like and the worse that will happen is that you'll have to hassle them a bit at the start of term to get your money. I applied in September just before uni and didn't phone them once - still got the money through before November started.

Just hope your LEA doesn't do what mine did...paid my tuition fees for year 3 after being income assessed then EIGHT MONTHS after my final year I get a demand off the university for £800 in fees as the LEA took the money back from the university after reviewing my case again - yeah nice one!

I had some good times and got a degree out of it but damn with the debts I'm stuck with from it I really wish I hadn't bothered. That was when the fees were around the £1k mark too, I really feel sorry for students even more now.
