student loans...

It is means tested based on your parents income so it is hard to say, you could probably check on the website if they have some form of calculator(I haven't checked to see if one exists). The other thing is if you are a mature student or have been supporting yourself for a few years then parental contribution is not included in the loan calculation.

Everyone is entitled to a "basic" loan (or at least that was the case this year going into our first year of uni), which I think was upto a maximum of £3305 and depending on your parents income you could be entitled to more which is means tested as you stated above. :)

Mine goes in on the 9th of October, the first day back of term.

I've enrolled online and have send my loan agreement form off. When do I ching ching ching in?

It depends entirely on your LEA or the SLC and your Uni term dates. My payment schedule is set out to pay me on:

09/10/2006
08/01/2007
11/04/2007

edit - what does it say online for you? Approved? Check the correspondence tab and see if they have sent out a payment schedule. That will inform you of the dates etc. If those dates have been and gone, ignore me.

9th October? Off to York are we? I'll check it online when I get home.

Nope, continuing here in Nottingham, 2nd year. I received my payment schedule but they took their time. I'm not entirely sure whether everyones on my course is the same as mine was quite a late application.

I got mine on Saturday. I didn't even hand in my loan form before the deadline. Was much worse for me last year, it didn't come in for about six weeks after term had started.

That's weird. I'll ask a few of my mates off my course, see what they had. Must be different I guess as I also have a few mates who are both at Bristol Uni, but have different payment dates. Annoying.

Still waiting on my confirmation so I can show it to registration and get it sroted.

Hopefully get it done last week because I am £250 overdrawn and my accomodation needs to be paid for as well as food.

I'm at Salford not Wovlerhampton by the way, really should change my location. :p

By the way, you on Castle Irwell?

I still haven't recieved the letter. :(

Me neither they are bloody useless, why does it take them nearly 10 weeks to calculate a continuing students claim, especially as there has been no changes to my situation.

Not got mine yet, although the other uni in town have got theirs, really do hope mine comes in tomorrow, otherwise a trip to the bank is in order.

Got my first payment on friday, registered last tueday.
Just got to remember not to blow it all  :p

How did it come through so quick? I'm eligible for paid tuition fees and get the student loan etc, just like my first 2 years.. but I left sending off the application until the start of September even though the deadline was May/June. :o

I'm trying to get through to the student loans company at the moment... it's not even getting through to a queue, it justs says they're extremely busy and then hangs up. :/

No, we got told they started going in today and payments should be completed by friday at northumbria uni.

haha.. who in the right mind would apply for northumbria?
i go ther, i got in with a-level D&Es, oh i loved going out every night during exams and still getting into uni on the course i wanted.. doing sfx, animation, games design&film creation/editing.

on the upside, you're in newcastle, thers plenty of fit geordies, bimbos at northumb, and fit rars at newc uni.

On a diff note, so its gunna take a few weeks after application if you'v already enrolled? Iv got parents picking up the tabs for fees, rent, bills & living costs, but i fancied a loan so i could go on a massive week long bender abroad for my birthday, and flash some cash as an investment to pull a loaded gf, who i could then live the jetset life with..

Bah.

My loan is not quite enough to cover the cost of a year's accommodation here in Edingburgh, and I've been up here now for 2 1/2 weeks with no word from my LEA about what's going on.

*shakes fist at Edinburgh uni and SLC*
