Can't find the linkie at the mo so of someone wants to drop it in I would be grateful.

The muppet (I mean student) who threw the fire extinguisher off the top of the building during the riots has been jailed for 3 years

serves the moron right! At least we occasionally get a common sense decision fron the courts these days!

Thats a surprisingly harsh sentance, but i assume the judge was going for a "Let this be a lesson to all of you"

However this in my opinion is a good thing. Well done judgey

Yeah, it is harsh. Perhaps a bit too harsh IMO. I think 12 months would have been plenty. It is frustrating when they don't give harsh sentences when they are really warranted though.

I certainly think it was a tough sentence. But there should be more sentences like this who endanger others lives.

Agreed. Too many career criminals and crimes that are not the result of a moment of foolishness get far less.

Rapist sometimes get shorter sentences than this.. peh..

I understand that he could have killed someone.. but as previously mentioned, 12 months would have been fine.

Yes but he didn't. He didn't even injure anyone. He got carried away and was stupid, I don't think there was any intent to injure anyone. A 12 month jail sentence would have been fine to get the point across. When you see some of the sentences handed down to people that have killed via dangerous driving etc, you'll see that this is harsh.

I think what he's trying to say is 3 years for not killing anyone, knowing it wasn't pre-meditated and that he didn't intentionally try killing someone, 3 years of your life gone can be classed as harsh when there is murder, theft, rape etc going on with far less sentences.

I know that, it could have ended very badly indeed for the guy but luckily it didnt.

Im not outraged about the sentance being harsh, i just assumed he would have gotten off with a lighter punishment due to the past nature of other criminals sentancing, and the fact that it wasnt pre-meditated and thankfully no one was hurt, but im pleasantly surprised at the actual outcome.

Making an example of idiots like him is fine in my books! Maybe it will make the other "protesters" think twice.

Harsh, death through dangerous driving gets much less. Example being made i think.
