Hey, first post whoo...

Anyway for a serious first post. I am currently half way through reading up for an CompTIA A+ qualification, but would like to no if anyone has some advice as to where to proceed next.

I'm looking into doing something on the more practical side of computing but would most probably enjoy any work that involves computer hardware. But not being fussy, going where the 'money' is , is fine. I hope to be doing some kind of job that will satisfy my practical side but also pay a nice wage, nothing major , but enough to live on. I have inquired into a few job applications and most seem encouraged that I'm taking the A+ course but i would think that anything extra would be an extra plus.

As i said before i am half way through reading up and studying a 1200 page in depth guide to the A+ course , and once that is completed i was looking to do some kind of MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) exam, but their are soo many options its rather bewildering.

Any advice would be most welcome, thank you :D

i work in a 2nd line desktop/server role. i cant even remember the last time i opened a PC - that kind of stuff is taken care of by onsite warranties, and machines that die outside of them are binned. in fact i'm not even sure what's in the PC i'm typing on now, save that it's one of our standard desktops. the days of IT techs tinkering with motherboards and CPUs are largely over.

If you search for MCP/MCSE/ITIL/A+ etc there have been quite a few very informative posts this year regarding this topic.

Welcome to the forums!

Will do, thanks kefkef

[Edit] hmm after searching around it would seem i would find work with the A+ 220-602 exam qualification and move up in help desk support. Annoyingly Network+ and Sever+ both have a recommended prerequisite of 9months and 18months , for the Network and Sever+ exams, i enjoy learning and studying , but would doing the Network+ exam after the A+ , be jumping in the deep end ?

Got no problem working in a helpdesk role, there seem to be quite afew helpdesk 1st line positions around where i live. But at the moment i would like to fully prepare myself qualification wise , for getting a job. As always advice and comments welcome.
