Stuff that 'boggles' your mind.

No its not, the problem is the kinds of regions we are talking about ( we are talking distances that arepretty hard to imagine), Goverments that are less than useful with co-operation, and, sadly, the amount needed is pretty astronomical, we arnt talking a few tankers to a few villages.

Sorry that was in reply to MT.

Desalination is pretty hard and costly iirc Getting the salt is fairly easy I could do that at home with just normal stuff but you would need a condensing still or something like that to make distilled water.

Edit just to be clear I was thinking small scale rather than large if you were one guy next to the sea or something.

How people can get time off work for being "depressed"

...Because sitting at home with nothing on your mind leaving you to focus on how depressed you are, is somehow supposed to help you?

Oh I got one,

Years spent developing camera phones, no doubt hundreds of researches who worked day in day out to get to where we are today..
.....most popular apps are photo apps that make perfectly good photos look like old polaroids or old film.

A few comments have reminded me of something else that boggles me. Poor society's, be it villages-cities or whatever have a total lack of communal effort. I mean the pictures and story's of cities that are so polluted, no fish can survive. Resulting in famine. Why not burn your rubbish. Use long drop toilets.
I can't decide why this happens, is it a lack of education or the, once you get humans into groups. The lazy genes kick in.

If Bill Gates gave half his money to charity, he could solve world hunger (not sure how true that is, just heard it somewhere)

But if it is true, then why doesn't he? or someone else now that he's not the richest man in the world anymore?

How much more famous that "I solved world hunger" could you get, with the possible exception of "I cured cancer"

It's not true, world hungar isn't a problem of growin food, or affording it. It's logistic, war, governments and a host of other things.
Bill and Melinda Gates were the second-most generous philanthropists in America, having given over $28*billion to charity.[76] They plan to eventually give 95% of their wealth to charity

Im pretty sure theirs a raft of things BG has done already charity wise, I jsut cant remember them now but on Reddit their was a good article what he has done so far and TBH, I think hes one of the worlds really good guys. Even the US scholership scheme he runs seems pretty amazing for those who get it.

I agree with everything you say. But Tallness does not equal Height. Everest will always be higher than a mountain under the water no matter where you take the reference from.

That would probably take a **** lot of maths if you real wanted to prove it though as the earth is certainly not a perfect sphere!

Yep, Bill Gates has done an incredible amount of charity work with his wealth. By my understanding, he's leaving his children enough to live comfortably or create their own businesses, and is using the remainder to better the world. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the man.

Isn't also something like world hunger for a year?
As a lot of hunger issue is due poor farm land or lack of water, and as such you'd need to construct irrigation systems.

How with the powerful computers we are all using today 'basic' maths can still bring them to their knees...

Load up calculator, make sure it's on the scientific setting
Press 2
Square the answer
Square that answer
Square that answer
Try doing it more than 25 times...

Voyager is about to break out of our solar system any time now.

Still a couple of years away from the Heliopause but not bad for a little probe.

My mind boggles over the fact we still fight each other so much, we still spend so much on wars and fighting technology. We should have bulk bases on the moon (we landed in the 60's for crying out loud) and should at least have one ark-craft heading for Proxima Centuri.

Mankind is essentially ****ed. We've not moved on since the middle ages in some respects.
