Im now looking for proof of this but when a certain etailer sold me two Samsung HD103SJ's I had to confirm they would be covering the full 3years of warranty seeing as they were grey imported drives. Now I need to rma one of these things and I have been told to toddle off by the customer services as its over 12months since they were bought. I mentioned about how these were grey imported and I was told that they will be covering the full 3years in house. I was basically told to "Prove it" as if I was lying!

So im off now to find proof! I have it just need to track it downas I kept a lot of stuff regarding all the parts I pulled together at the time. I am really annoyed with how this has panned out. I never thought this would happen but it has so this has greatly influenced further purchases. This company has lost out as I was going to buy some more drives this weekend and now I am thinking about going elsewhere.

Rant over!

Thank you! I was looking around for some kind of proof that I was not making this up!

I bought this particular drive on the 15th June 2010. I was told because it was over 12months to run and jump...

EDIT: Yes it was! Somewhere I saved everything even down to the original webpage with the product details.

The fact it has 3years warranty isnt bothering me so much! It is the fact OCUK are trying to stiff me out on these two Samsungs. I will never trust this company again! Im kinda already expecting things like this ever since they got sold off.

EDIT: And post #15 of that grey import thread! An employee has said 3years but nothing about them actually covering it direct! I need to find that proof as I know they did state it. I would not have kept the drives if the subject was not made clear.

I've done the best I can for you.

I believe you have enough evidence to show that they were advertised with a 3 year waranty.

You have an OcUK employee stating that if they were advertised with a 3 year warranty then that is what you wll get.

You have the evidence to show it's a grey import so not covered for warranty by Samsung/Seagate.

QED, OcUK will have to honour the warranty.

Post in the Customer Service section of the forum for the attention of 5UB.

I bought one of these 'grey area' sammy f3's form a yorkshire e-tailor and it died on me 13 months later but they were great about it.

They collected for free, tested it and then sent me a new drive.

Ok I checked that link and the faulty drive is in warranty so at least I can do something about it that way! Im still not happy how I feel about this and their way of wiggling out of it!

I will be looking for a competitor, checking out everything before I part with any money from now on.

I assumed you'd checked the warranty status before posting and stating with certainty it was a grey import.

Never mind, I didn't have any other use for that hour of my life

Hey,

Were the drives purchased from us? Just asking as you said in the first post "certain etailer sold me two Samsung HD103SJ". :)

If it is from us, contact me in the CS forum and we can help.

I've always purchased hard drives from another etailer purely for the simple reason that when one of them failed on me they arranged for collection and replaced it (once they had tested & verified it).

If you have a good experiance with an etailer like that then you always go back to them for a certain product and don't mind paying £5 - £10 extra than other places because you know you will get the support when needed.

As there are only two manufacturers of drives now maybe OCuK should publish there policy on replacing hard drives to clear up any issues.

I shall post in the customer support section. Just got a reply back and it looks like they dont believe whats being said. I pointed them to the grey import thread and post #15 but it has fallen on deaf ears.
