right - got the components and case etc for my build and am now putting them all together. Not had a desktop/tower in bits for about 8 years at a guess so a bit rusty at this. Couple of questions . . . . (yes, these are hopefully easy to answer and I could prob work it out but to save making stupid mistakes I'm not too proud to ask for assistance :) )

The case (silverstone FT03) has 3 fans built in, the CPU has one ontop of the heatsink as well. This makes 4 in total.

On the Motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-F2A85XM-D3H) there is CPU Fan (heatsink fan on top of CPU connected to this) and TWO SYS_FAN's (SYS_FAN1 and SYS_FAN2).

This leaves me with 1 fan I don't have a socket for. Am I missing the obvious and there's somewhere else to plug it into? If not and I only have 2 of the 3 plugged in, which ones should I plug in?

The top one, the middle one, or the bottom one?

This is probably the first of many silly questions, and to be honest I'm surprised I've got this far without getting stuck.

right - answered that one myself while reading what I had posted and thinking about it logically :) (and finding the 3 pin fan adapters hiding under the case)

Silly question number two . . . .

Should I worry that I've got what seems like a large number of unused power connectors running off the PSU?

I've not got GPU yet (tomorrow or sat hopefully) so that will count for some, but I connected all the additional cables that came with the PSU and don't seem to be using the majority of them

Nah, assuming you haven't got a modular PSU, you'll have a fair few spare connections.

Maybe 2 GPU connectors if you haven't got one in there yet and some SATA for drives and some molex.

Easiest to work the other way, has every component got a power cable to it + 2 into the motherboard? If so you're probably good to go.

sweet - everything is plugged in (somewhere)

turn on time in a few mins - then see if it boots from my Win8 USB stick :)
