Back in the good old days, aka 1990's if you opened a bag of crisps or a can of coke you would be greeted with a simple Win or Lose, now all you get is some stupid long code you have to text in to some number or sign up on their stupid web site to find out you have lost anyway.

I no long even bother looking into this any more. Gone is the excitement of lifting a ring pull of a can to find you have won a free football or a t shirt.
Or waiting for the 2 ltr bottle to get down half way so you can see the print on the back of the label.

Who else just bins the silly kit kat wrapper or can of drink as they cba with the ******'s you have to go through?

Mars bars still do the open your wrapper and win wrappers. At least back home in Aus they still do on ocassions as well as the McDonalds monopoly promo, which has a bit of both.

But yes on the whole I agree, it is far more of a pain to win stuff for free these days :(

I used to like the little cards in plastic wrapping you found in bags of crisps :(

Loved the little blue bags you got in walkers crisps, some containing £5, £10 or £20. Most just free bags of crisps.

This txt/website code thing you get these days is just fail.

Anyone remember the zig and zag golden wonder prizes? you could win stuff like a 2p piece and some cotton wool lol.

I do remember the walkers one with the cash inside, ahhh the good old days.

Loved the blue bags in walkers where you would win money or a packet of crisps - hate it as well now where you have to text in or check online :(

It definetely was better back in the old days. Rarely bother to check online or by text these days. Makes you wonder how many big prizes have been chucked in the bin.

I'm old enough to remember collecting ring pulls and then getting cool yoyos or mini footballs.

I agree today's text blah blah are **** :(

I remember those little discs you coul collect.

Also, agree completely about the ****ing around nowdays. Bring back instant wins properly. Loved those walkers blue packets, probably ate about 100% more. :D

I remember Carling with real money inside. Downside the can only contained water.

A bit of a bugger if it was late at night and your only tin left.

Greenwing instantly springs to mind, xraying huge boxes of crisps haha genius

It's such a business failure really, they waste loads advertising these prize things only for poeple not to bother with them.

and so they never have to pay out, even though people will still buy the product to "win" the prizes they can't be bothered claiming.

With all the code ones I'd imagine it's still randomly generated rather than assigned to your code. It probably means they can guarantee a certain pattern of winners rather than the £10k or car getting left in a storeroom in a box of crisps.
