It was fine yesterday. Today I turned the ignition and nothing happened. The electric windows work though and the radio comes on. Is it probably just a nearly flat battery?

try and start it and listen for a click, that would be the starter solenoid, if no click then could be starter, could also be ignition switch or wiring, fuse etc.

Nearly 1350 posts and you've not noticed the motors forum?! Gah!

Give the car a sustained blast of the horn, does it tail off or remain sharp?

Symptoms so far point to a duff battery. Check the connections at the terminals, make sure something has worked itself loose. Failing that may be time to give it a bit of a charge. Got a battery charge kit or jumper cables?

I can't roll it down the road as it's parked on a slope :)

I haven't got a clue about cars as may be apparent. And my car is definitely stupid for not starting.

I've got AA membership - not sure if it's home start or not, but I guess I'll call them out tomorrow if I do. I haven't needed the car really this week, thankfully!
