Stupid Cyclist

Yes Nexus, because the people of London naturally believed that the horse and cart would be the favoured method of transport for the rest of history!

Building roads and then having the favoured method of transport change, is not ironic, otherwise it would be ironic when people stopped using floppy drives in PC cases and started using DVD writers instead. You're just one of those that brings out irony at every available, without really understanding its tone I'm afraid.

Get off your high horse.

It is ironic that Motorists are trying to claim the roads 'belong to them' when they were never designed for cars in the first place.

Face it, bicycles will never be off the roads, they're getting more and more popular, and if fuel prices keep rising a lot more people will be forced to take up cycling or pay for higher public transport prices.

Not really. The roads as they are today were almost entirely designed for cars. Dirt tracks and cobble paving hardly exist anymore if you look around.

And less of the nerd rage.

the infrastructure for the most part has stayed the same

What? No, it hasn't.

Not in traditional Central London they are not.

Hell part of my commute is on cobble stones which makes it like the Paris Roubaix.

What about in the future then, when cars are flying, what will we do about the roads then!

:p

I think Nexus is talking about the width of the roads, not the materials used. In that respect, the infrastructure in London is very poor. You can see the difference just by watching those two bike messenger race videos a few pages back - New York looks like cycling on a 4 lane motorway compared to the City.

And I put my bike together for <£200 using mostly ebay bits and I love her ;)

London is a lot older than New York.
