Stupid Cyclist!

I cycle to work in London every day. Stop putting pedestrians in danger.

I don't even ride a bike... However, riding anything other than a road bike on a road will end up causing more trouble than you would riding on a path.

When I used to ride a bike around about 2 years ago it was fairly simple, either slow down or stop when you see someone walking toward you and you cause no trouble what so ever.

No and NO! I have every right to cruise on the pavement. No police officer will stop me from wanting to be safe! Hardly gonna BMX it on the road now am i?

No, you have zero right to do anything on the pavement except walk. And congratulations on being a hypocrite. You don't want to be in danger, yet you're quite happy to put pedestrians in danger while you break the law.

It's even simpler than that, it's illegal to cycle on the pavement.

Indeed.

Assuming is dangerous you buffoon. In the countless times i've pedaled on the path i've never harmed a pedestrian. I'm not zooming about like road cyclist mind you. Forcing somebody like me to push bike it on the dangerous road is the most stupid thing a government could do.

Why should i not be allowed to slowly roll along the path on my bike? There is no harm in it and it makes more sense.

You could drive a car on the pavement and not harm a pedestrian. Why don't we all just do that?

Probably because cars were meant for the roads where as bicycles weren't. Not to mention the space and the planted trees and the bins and benches getting in the way. It's just not feasible and i said earlier you can't waffle on about a vice-versa scenario concerning this matter.

Road cyclists are the worst, it's like they put on some Lycra and this means traffic lights/crossings don't apply to them anymore. Maybe they think they're superman now.

Have you got this the right way round?
Road cyclists usually keep to the rules where your generic £100 MTB make their own traffic rules up.

I find it's the lycra clad 'pros' that decide they are the cycle mounted kings of the road and just do as the please most of the time.

Don't talk such tripe...

Rich, coming from the author of...

Cyclists ought to get back on the path and pedal slowly. They do not belong on the roads.

Besides, as I said, I actually don't begrudge cyclists on the pavement. As I and Dimple have pointed out, its the safest option in some cases. But don't make out that all cyclists should be on the path just because your not confident enough to ride on the road.

Just because you haven't personally hurt anybody yet doesn't mean it's OK. It's not. The pavement was designed for pedestrians, not bicycles, lycra clad or otherwise. Just because you think the law is stupid, doesn't mean you get to ignore it.

Cycling on the pavement makes you a potential danger to pedestrians, especially the older generation that may not be able to get out of the way quick enough (not that they should have to).

Because it's illegal. If you don't like it, petition the government to change the law or make more cycle tracks.

Under the rules of the road, it's your fault for not checking your mirrors/blind spot.

Under the rules of natural selection, that cyclist has no future...

You were indicating left, the cyclist has got to be a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic to undertake a car that's indicating left.

the stopping for 20 seconds bit could easily of made a cyclist think that hed stopped waiting to pick someone up or something

both people in the wrong, cyclists mad for passing cars on a high street at speed. only takes one open door

If a car indicates, don't overtake to the side that they're indicating on. That's just retarded!

I cycle very defensively and signal if there are other road users around. Acting like a car is a great way to increase road presence on a roundabout, making sure not to be shy being in the correct lane in a multiple lane roundabout. I've also stopped listening to music.

I just love how cyclists make their safety my responsibility. Almost as much as the idiots with their ipod headphones on who step out into the road in front of me as I am turning, totally oblivious.
