Stupid Cyclist!

Cyclists are the most selfish people on the road, they have no respect for other road users, pedestrians and basic etiquette's!

Not sure I'd totally agree with that. You get good and bad, the same as you do with any other type of road user. As with any of them, you only tend to notice the bad.

Even a good cyclist turns two lanes of traffic into one, and one into zero. They should be on the pavement, for their own safety, giving way to pedestrians.

Perhaps you'd like horses on the pavement as well? A good driver has courtesy.. which I'd suggest you are lacking. Pavements are lethal to cyclists. They are greasy, uneven and terrible places to be if attempting any speed. You suggestion is ludicrous.

As a driver I never have an issue with cyclists, because I know how to drive properly. As a cyclist, I am used to how moronic drivers can be and have missed being run over multiple times because I was able to predict a drivers -bad- behaviour, and work realise which people are erratic drivers. I've never nearly been killed by a cylist, but I've nearly been knocked over by drivers many times (Their fault).

Douche bag cyclists are just more visible than douche bag drivers. I've done a few daft things on my bike just like I've done a few daft things in my car.

How courteous is a cyclist making me crawl along at 12mph behind them because they're too cheap to pay for petrol?

I managed fine when I rode a bike.

So ludicrous that I cycled hundreds, if not thousands of miles on the pavement as a teenager? If they want speed they can go buy a car.

You're happy to crawl along at 12mph behind a cyclist then? On a 40mph road? What about two abreast? Just to have them overtake you at the next red light so you have to do it all over again? That's fine with you? How much road tax are you paying on your car?

As a cyclist, I am used to how moronic drivers can be and have missed being run over multiple times because I was able to predict a drivers -bad- behaviour, and work realise which people are erratic drivers.

Good for you. Do you make up for all the suicidal idiots then? The one that sat in my blind spot at traffic lights the other day that I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't watched them cycling up beforehand? The one I had to hit the brakes for who was trying to cycle alongside me on the nearside in the outside lane of a roundabout as I had been signalling left to leave the roundabout? The scores that I have seen ride through red lights?

Douche bag cyclists are just more visible than douche bag drivers. I've done a few daft things on my bike just like I've done a few daft things in my car.

Oh well I guess that's the end of that then....or not.

You do realise most cyclists own a car and are cycling for reasons other then the cost of petrol? I'm pretty sure my bike is costing me more to run then if I drove the journeys too.

If you plan ahead passing a cyclist doesn't impact on your journey time too. I'm only held up by cyclists riding two abreast.

It's only annoying when they deliberately hold you up. Most cyclists don't, so you just go past them as safely as possible and continue with your journey.

You make out like you are getting caught behind a cyclist at 12mph for your entire journey. If that's the case, then you seriously need to evaluate whether you deserve your license. Most of us just choose a safe opportunity, and go past them.

Didn't literally mean all as a fact, from my own experience a lot of them are really selfish, I walk down a one way street everyday and there are always cyclist mounting the pavements cycling the wrong way and forcing pedestrians onto the road! I have never come across a courteous cyclists, the Boris bikers are the worst kind out there.

....but would it annoy you?

No, there are far greater annoyances in life then someone exercising their right to use a human powered vehicle on the public road.

There is only one time a group of cyclists has annoyed me and that was when they were deliberately holding traffic up (weaving across the road stopping people overtaking (and there was a separate cycle lane) travelling at <5mph. I actually recognised one from my junior school days. He was bullied a lot because he had a enormous head that looked like James and the giant peach, we all called him spud head. His head was still out of proportion to his adult body.

I've not even passed my test yet and can manage overtaking a cyclist... Not really an issue.

I also feel that so long as cyclists are being careful on a path and not actually cycling at speed there should be no issue.

I used to cycle slowly on footpaths as I have a disability and walking gave me ankle/knee trouble.

Yes and they ride at the side of the road to allow you to pass, as they are slower than you.

Just because you seem incapable of doing so does not mean they are deliberately holding you up.

I give them the same room I would give a car, as I was taught.

If you are just sailing past cyclists without moving into the other lane, unless there are some very wide lanes where you live, or you are in a bubble car, you are driving dangerously and have no right to comment.

What, you mean where I said that I wait for a safe opportunity and go past them?

I never once claimed to be sailing past them in a dangerous fashion, or not giving them enough room, so trying to discredit my comments with baseless accusations of dangerous driving wont work.

You seem to think that owning a car gives you an exclusive right to use the road. It does not. You should have been taught that too, so you have no right to get annoyed and demand the removal from the roads of any vehicle slower than yourself.

I don't know where to start with all of that! I probably pay more petrol and road tax than you (not that such a thing exists anyway), get held up by cars far more than I hold them up and my road bike cost more than 50% of cars on the road, so believe me it's not a cost issue ;).

I don't post on here moaning every time a car pulls out on me (thinking I'm doing 10mph when it's more like 20), or how cars try and block me when I'm legally filtering on my motorbike, as I recognise that all modes of transport have their good riders/drivers and bad.

Your generalizations are frankly ridiculous.

The car drivers are always trying to find things to blame because their journey was delayed by 5 minutes but instead of the obvious cause of the holdup (themselves and other cars), they blame cyclists because they are an easy target. For every cyclists that's one less car on the road and will actually reduce congestion, yes they might hold you up for 10 seconds but when you reach the traffic jam that will hold you up for 30 minutes and you don't see cyclists causing traffic jams.:D
