Stupid friend put finger in graphics card fan.

Suprised nobody else has said it yet... What an absolute ****tard!!

Moving on - aftermarket cooler is the way forward here (I'm sure you'll be able to find one for a non-reference board if you look hard enough..,) preferably one with 50,000rpm stainless steel fan blades, then dare him to do it again :) lol

>edit<
Centurion, do you reckon that cooler will fit a 4770? the only 4*** series listed on the link is the 4850/4870 but how different can they be eh? lol

Yeah I know about the waranty but that's not really an issue. I'm abit unsure because I will be upgrading my gfx card in the not too distant future. Seems I'll have to make do till then. Doesn't seem to affect performance :P

I've done that with a 8600gt though and the centre of the fan so I stop the motor but that was to see which fan was making the most noise. 80mm exhaust fan wins followed by the retarded 8600gt fan.

I once fitted a Thermaltake Orb onto my GeForce II MX440 and when I turned it on I noticed the fan was clipping the power wire... as I was moving the wire out of the way of the fan the tip of one of my fingernails got hit square on by the fan blades - it split my nail lengthways right down the middle and as you can immagine, broke the fan lol wasn't happy :(

Incidentally, blood isn't conductive :) (at least, mine isn't!)

You could have a look on the bay for a genuine cooler. A lot of people fit a third party cooler and then sell the original on there. Whatever you decide to do, make sure the numpty friend pays for it. ;)

You could run it passive :p

Hmmm... quietness... :)

Reckon it would take a mild overclock as a passive cooler? "mild" being up from 750/800 to 830/850 - I can do it on my stock cooler for a furmark run of about 10 mins, but then the screen errupts in green measles and the system restarts lol

Or you could just try superglueing the fan blade back on.
I knocked off a blade from the topfan on my antec 900 and just glued it back in.
Now it works fine
