Well considering it only had a $7 million budget compared to the originals $100 million, I thought it did okay with what it was given (fair enough it wasn't great).

Personally I didn't rate many of the Star Trek movie sequels.

Agree with Ocean's 12 even though I enjoyed it.

Gremlins 2 was a great sequel though!!!

Spiderman 2 gets my vote, it was quite enjoyable but unmasking a character in the second film seemed like a waste of time, Batman has had loads of films and he never gets unmasked.

I've not watched the Directors cut of Alien 3 yet but I always thought the original wasn't too bad. It was just poor compared to Alien and Aliens but how many films could that be said about. I thought Alien 4 was quite good up to the point they decided to have that stupid alien at the end and that kind of ruined the film for me.

To be honest I think any sequels (particularly 3rd, 4th etc) which utilise a 'new' cast are often regarded with disdain, often within reason.

Aside from that, as mentioned Terminator 3 and Oceans 12 were particularly poor considering the quality of the earlier ones.

Compare it to the first one where none of it was pants.

They took all the one liners that made Jack great and just chewed them up and spat them out. The voodoo lady was the most ridiculous and un-fitting thing I'd ever seen. The fact that they devised a way for every character to make a return was just too ridiculous to be fluke. Oh and Elizabeths love interests were completley inapropriate for her character. Don't get me started on that bloody wheel thing.

That and everything they'd built up about Jacks character from the first was seemingly forgotten and started over again from scratch.

The only thing to hope for with the next one is that we have a Matrix scenario, where the first is great, second sucks and the third was much better than the second, but still not as good as the first.

Everything after Batman Returns sucked anyway. Batman Begins was excellent but it isn't a sequal.

Spiderman 2 = Cool bad guy.

not too sure if this counts but AvP was pretty poo not on par with any of the original predator or alien films.

The only thing that comes close in the series is alien res it dont get me wrong it was ok but it was an un nessesory addition to a great trilogy and yes I love alien 3 was the first one I saw and is probably my fav especily the directors cut

AvP was a real let down. Imho Predator 2 was a let down. Alien Ressurection wasn't neccesary but a good watch all the same.

yeah that one. nowt wrong with that film, except maybe it wasnt dark enough for my tastes. still enjoyed it though, but with the release of all the DC's, it still ranks 4th of the 4.
