Stupid Pricing! HDD going up! PSU going down though.

Told you, the old Corsair PM now at OCZ has turned around the quality of the products. Just need the world to spot this now :)

Well, I always traditionally discounted OCZ as quality used to be a bit hit-n-miss; if the Corsair boss has upped the quality drastically though, and they're now holding thier own against the likes of Corsair etc than thats always a good thing. Affordable but solid PSUs are well needed in this market.

What's noise like though? :)

The noise levels on the ZS series are as good as the Corsair units, the ZX Gold range is amazing to be honest.

Which do you find typically quieter in usual operation, the ZX Gold or Bequiet?
Sounds like a silly query but I'd like to find the quietest PSU I can with the relative wattage capability when I buy in a month or two :)

It's not always you can ask a guy who handles a ton of the units haha

I went to a lot of hassle sourcing a Nexus PSU when I built my HTPC, and I'd rather avoid that again heh

I thought Corsair PSU's were made by Seasonic? (the majority of them)

So, This guy leaving and going to OCZ doesnt mean a lot..

It used to be either Seasonic or Channel Well.

Nowadays over half of the Corsair's PSUs are made by Channel Well (CX Series, GS Series, TX Series and HX Series) and only a few models are Seasonic (AX650/750/850 and HX650). Flextronics makes the most powerful PSU in the AX Series (AX1200).

So, is my Z-Series 800W OCZ 80+ Gold a reliable PSU or not? should i be finding something better for a high end system?

Yes very reliable as I believe it was manufactured by PC Power and Cooling not the inferior OEM that OCZ used to use.

The ZX Gold are very quiet, hence why we showcased it off in the £6,000 PC whihc we took to the LITS show this weekend

Funny that you should mention PC Power&Cooling since they aren't an OEM and are owned by OCZ Technology.

Their Silencer series is made by Seasonic and Silencer MK II by Sirtec.

The now discontinued Z-Series 850W (I assume that's the one Roverno refers to) was also made by Sirtec and is a reliable PSU according to various reviews. It could even be rated at 1000W with no problems since its max rated output on the 12V rail is 71A (852W).

Still, Sirtec is considered a tier lower OEM than Great Wall that makes the ZX series.

Thanks, thats a relief.

Edit: Thanks also to Mr Krugga. It is the Z-Series 850W, dunno why i typed 800. Nice to see that it is capable of upwards of 850W. Good stuff :D
