stupid question about cables out

when Connecting a 4890 to my monitor i only need the normal vga cable right? to recieve full graphics? i don't need a hdmi cable?

Yes that is correct, but if you have a DVI cable that is better.

Using a DVI or HDMI cable for a digital connection would be better then using a analog vga cable

quick confirmation then, i need to have a dvi or hdmi cable going to my monitor to recieve the best quality for playing games?
