ok so if you have 2 identical cars

one being Fwd and the other Rwd

would their be a MPG difference ?

I thought that RWD cars had slightly higher transmission losses than FWD cars? Well I thought I saw someone mention it in another thread, so based on that I would have said the RWD would have a worse fuel consumption by a small margin.

Mid or rear engined cars will also have more weight over the rear wheels so if anything, and it will be marginal will have better traction, therefore waste less power spinning wheels.
