So I have an oldish laptop, a 8440p HP elitebook which doesn't have MSATA.

I want to add an SSD but without removing the current mechanical HDD or the DVD rewriter.

I've noticed that there is a slot marked 'wwan' which is vacant and I was wondering if there was a way of getting an SSD into that slot (isn't it just a pcie mini?).

My google searches have confused me to be honest so I thought I would ask here.

idk what it is?

you need to measure if you can and see if an ssd would fit,if not then youd have to sacrifice your dvd drive and stick one in there

it would need sata data/power cable/connector also (which the dvd bay would already have) not sure about the wwan

Here's a picture of the slot.

I guess what I'm asking is if there a way to convert pcie mini to msata? I suppose not but I thought I'd ask.

As you say I can remove the DVD and buy a converter bay, that is an option but I would also need to buy an external dvd writer so if there is a way to use that slot I would prefer that.
