Stuttering and crashing

I am having regular but dispersed stuttering in games such as dota 2 and the vanishing of ethan and have had 2 crashes over the last 2 days whilst not playing games just on desktop, where the screen goes black and there is a very loud sort of buzzing sound and I to manually restart to get it working. This feels like a GFX card issue which would be annoying as my 780 GTX is quite new.

Take the card out and re-seat it making sure the power leads are plugged in fully. Run Display Driver Uninstaller and clean all of the nVidia drivers. Install the latest WHQL drivers and see how that goes.

Also might pay to run something like MSI Afterburner to check that you don't have a virus or bitcoin miner running. These things have a way of sneaking past us at times. If the GPU is in full use on desktop, you have one of those.

If it still does it, you could well have a borked card and would need RMAing.

Has the stuttering been at random in Dota 2? And do you run a 120hz.

I dont know about the crashes but i too experienced an odd stutter in Dota 2 related to a few things, however not tried Ethan Carter yet.

I run at 60hz and yes it does seem random in dota so it could well just be part of the game i am going to test cpu temps in a sec but gpu are very good i average 40-50 under load

My CPU reaches high 60's on Dota, gpu never over 40.

I've noted that stutters in dota happen due to events in the actual server, players buying items, someone selling stuff, occasionally when a wave spawns you'll get a stutter, if you dont see it its not as bad.

I've also noted that the problem gets amplified the higher your framerate is, try locking it to 60 it might help ( that is if you've unlocked it to say 120, i find Dotas sweet spot to stop stuttering is 80-90fps)

Just try that see if it does help, abouit the crashes i'm not sure, sounds like either a cpu problem or maybe faulty ram?
