stuttering

Oh and not to mention the section on build quality

Yes, the French are in trouble again. Sixteen of the 25 worst-built cars in our survey are the spawn of the unholy Peugeot-Citroen-Renault triumvurate, and it's no surprise to find the Peugeot 807 propping up the list again.

french cars being crap is neither here nor there it dont help find the problem and doesn't help this thread either.

This is really weird, my car has been missfiring for the past 2 days, I booked it into the local garage and got a phone call today (28/2/07) that it needs a new LAMBA sensor (Oxygen sensor). The bill is going to be about £180. Rest assured I will be sending the bill to the garage.

So lets think, only tescos and morrisons effected, 'but the petrol is all the same regardless of which garage chain you buy it from, it all comes from the same place' umm, perhaps not hey......

I only buy my petrol from Murco as it's on my way to work, so yes most garages are supplied from one source.

my car best not be damaged

does this only do this while your using the dodgy fuel and be fine with good fuel or has this damaged my car ?

do these ***** not realise that "its french" or "its a peugeot" doesnt help ? it also affects mercedes so its not purely because of that

Most cars do that when their cold...
I've never had a car that's done that, except carburettor-fuelled models over 10 years ago. Fuel injected cars should drive perfectly whether hot or cold, if everything is functioning properly.

My car is in the garage with something to do with the Oxygen Sensor too. :(

still no one knows whats wrong, they're advising you to keep all fuel reciepts and expenses paid out for damages just in case someone holds their hands up and we can claim compensation. all my fuel was paid on my credit card so i have proof :)

my faults strange because surely if the sensor has burnt out i'd be experiencing stuttering all the time not just on the first pull way

Yes it would. I doubt your problem is related to this fuel issue as you would have the problem any time you drove.

EGR valve blocked?
Something oil related?
Sensor of some kind that needs to warm up?

Hard to tell really.

only started happening last week, ive only bought petrol from tescos and its a peugeot, sounds a bit of a coincidence to me me :(

UPDATE

2 o2 sensors have been replaced at a cost of £375 plus Tesco told me to rent a car while mine was being repaired as it took a week to get the sensors in stock. I was given a 1.8 SRI astra which totaled £242 so total bill was £617 :(

You only just got around to getting yours sorted out?
Mine went in a couple of weeks ago.
The O2 sensor had managed to survive the onslaught of Tesco petrol and was simply giving false readings rather than being completely dead.
They removed the sensor and fully cleaned it.
They then totally drained the engine and stuck 10L of Super Unleaded in - total cost £235inc
If I'd known that Tesco were going to admit fault I would have taken a loan car for the week leading up to my booking at the local dealership.

On the day that Tesco took out the full-page adds I called them and then sent them all of my receipts.
Five days later I got a cheque from them for £280 - The £235 repair bill and the £45 worth of contaminated petrol I put in which caused all this hassle in the first place.

Driving home after all the work was done on the car was like night & day - after a week of stuttering, loss of power etc the smooth ride home was lovely.
It only took Tesco five days to deal with my claim as well, however I did (by total luck) have my receipt which showed when and where I'd bought the fuel from.
To this day I don't know why I kept that one (it was paid for by cash too - so I wouldn't even have been able to get a bank statement to prove purchase) but for some reason I did.
