Sub-forums which should exist but don't

Overclockers UK Forums > Adult > Normal

Overclockers UK Forums > Adult > Freaky

Naturally the bottom one is for the mods  *runs* :p

Split things up too much it will ruin the forum. End up with 20 sub forums with 4 people in each one.

Actually, an Armed Forces sub forum with RAF/RN/Army would be cool.

The thread does just fine, and is good banter. But I feel a sub forum would promote general discussion of military hardware & forces instead of just chatter among those who are serving/want to.

There's already plenty of subforums within the Adult section. Once you've got the required number of posts you'll see.

Like a naughty step but for (supposed) adults? I like it!

I think it is a serious goer.......

Les suspensions, less bans, more members, and maybe...just maybe some will learn something. (then again.....)

Besides, we can all reinforce their stupidity by laughing at their misfortune....:D

I don't use reddit, what is the upvote system?

It's basically a points system, you upvote something to give it a point and downvote something to take away a point ( which is called karma)
On a subreddit, which is like a subforum, it has a list of posts with the most points which are refreshed depending on the activity. You also have a "what is new" bit which means you can see posts regardless of how much karma they have.
This is the same with comments, ones with top karma are at the top of the posts.
Now obviously this would not be good for some parts of the forum such as general hardware, though it could be modified so these subforums/subreddits don't have karma and are filtered by post time. We would also have limitless sub forums.

I see.....would that not confuse the flow of the threads though?

I'm just getting that one out of the way so that the menchildren don't annoy us by talking about, God, I don't even know, tentacles or storyline or how we baka Gaijins in the West just "don't get it"

Given how you post about this subject every single chance you get, I was even in the random pictures thread the other week and you had posted a screenshot from some animation, one may get the impression that the OP doth protest to much ... :p

Every time someone posts about going to Japan and wanting ideas you are the one who brings anime up there too ... whilst everyone else is suggesting other things to go to see ... is there something that you should be telling us? :p

It you don't like it that much then don't mention it then there is a good chance it won't be brought up in GD ...

Oh, and in answer to your question ... I wouldn't have any of your suggested ones as it would fragment things to much. I would possibly have a News sub-forum though where the Daily Mail RSS posts can go to die ...

Do you mean threads following after each other? Or do you mean posts inside the threads?
If the latter, it would probably be sensible disabling karma for comments and just sorting them by time. Also comments stack, if you reply to a post it will have indentation. The thing with reddit is that it's so big, threads don't have any flow at all so karma works in comments. It won't work on this scale so it's probably sensible for disabling karma for all posts/comments.

I think of threads and post being different.....posts go inside threads so to speak.

If it is for threads, we already have the rate system....if for posts then it would mess up the flow...unless the points attributed to posts were converted as Karma for the poster, then it might be useful......

Yeah they are different, I will print screen what I mean.

This is where the threads would be and they would be filtered by karma.

This is how the comments work in that post

The ones with the highest karma are at the top of the page, which I would recommend is just replaced with something similar as what we currently have which is sorted by time posted.
I would say that some subforums/subreddits threads should be sorted by karma while others not.
