Like the idea behind 1 and 2, though Id be more interested in 2 myself, theres some decent, clever people here and aside from talking about politics it nice to have some form of information exchange where it doesnt fit into the existing forums...
It is interesting, but i think how Reddit works works well for what Reddit does, which is mainly to get all the 'best' content on the web and put it in one place (it doesn't really work like that, but you know). I don't think it would work the same for a bulletin board at all.
I can't stand forums which have a rating system, i often just ignore it but then you feel guilty for not 'giving credit where it's due'. Often in forums it's a case of the simpler the better, less of a learning curve. I think OCUK has a nice mix, just enough to facilitate (sometimes ) good content creation, but not enough so anybody feels overwhelmed. The Arch forum works well too, but a lot of the 'simplifications' (like image limits) are due to server resources. That said, a lot of it is to reflect the OS itself...
I've been using Reddit for about a month, it's worth a try if you're interested.
