Sub par performance from 5820k?

You have your GPU in the wrong slot, i made this mistake not long back and it didn't report the PCIE speed so was probably running at 4x or less and it chugged. Needs to be in the top one to run at 16x.

Wow 8-pack hi :D

Guys! Swapping the GPU to the top slot fix it! locked 200FPS in BF3 now! Woot very very happy. Serves me right for thinking I was above reading the mobo manual.

Good to hear, I take it that slot was running the card at a lower pcie speed as opposed to full x16 in the top one.

I must have a strange board because using the top PCIE slot I get X8. I just dropped my existing Fury X into the second slot down for Crossfire and it's now running full X16. God only knows what will happen when I put the other one in :D

Yeah that slot ran it at x8. The gpu is touching the nh14s now just. I'm just going to order a nh12s to replace it. Annoyingly I upgrade from the 12 to 14 about 6 months ago and saw zero change in load or idle temps. I'm so happy though its a small price to pay. Ordered from ocuk, was cheaper else where but with out you guys this could have ended a lot worse lol

Hi ;)

Good to hear the issue is fixed.

I'm surprised even an x4 slot made that much of a difference. Interesting that.

I noticed it with my 980 Ti and that's only playing L4D2, the frame rate was much lower overall.. So yeah, surprisingly to me (at the time) it does make quite a big difference. Maybe i noticed it more because of my 120hz screen.

Pretty sure i checked results of GPU's running at various PCIE speeds before and the differences were pretty small at the time.

Maybe less of a diff on weaker cards though.

Yeah well in this case I was getting less then half the performance of my card. dips to 90 on the settings I play vs a locked 200fps in the right slot.
