Hi there

Guys I am interested in finding out the exact differences please on the following Hawkeye Subarus:-

S204
Spec C
Spec C RA
Spec C RA-R

Main point of interest are handling, power, weight, running cost, driver feedback, reliability and how they all differ from each other.

Impreza Spec C

http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/241432/subaru_impreza_wrx_sti_spec_c.html

JDM Market only. uses the 2.0L engine (VS the 2.5L engine in UK cars) with the Twinscroll turbo as found in the JDM STI. approx 30kg of weight saving due to no rear boot carpet, light weight windows, light weight alloy panels etc.. It has a massive water tank for the I/C spray in the boot, bespoke spring and damper setup, among a load of other stuff. See the article above.

Think of it as like a 911 GT3, lightenned, with extra power over the regular STI

Spec C Type RA

Based on the Spec C, but more geared up for use in rallying. Very Very Rare with only 350 ever made.

http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/110458-two-impreza-spec-c-type-ra-just-arrived-japan.html

Notice the map holder in the passenger side. Over the Regular Spec C it has sti rear rose jointed trailing arms, 19mm arb and 4 position rebound and compression adjustable dampers, and different wheels (light weight Enkei items as used by the Litchfield Type 25 Hawkeye) Also has a larger intake manifold

One for sale Here

That one has 400bhp + which is dead easy (see Power Station)

No more power than the Spec C i dont think so more like a Clubsport Spec 911 GT3.

Impreza S204

http://www.insideline.com/subaru/impreza/driving-the-ultra-sti-subarus-impreza-s204.html

Very rare with only 600 built.

Has more power than the Spec C due to the modified turbo, remapped ECU, larger compressor wheel in the turbo, revised intake etc.. Uses BBS alloys with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. Carbon fibre backed bucket seats, rear spoiler specific to the S204. Carbon fibre front splitter.

Its predecessors are the S202 and S203.

Created by STI aimed at being the "Ultimate Impreza"

Impreza Spec C RA-R

http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/206850/subaru_impreza.html

Uses the same 316bhp higher power engine of the S204 ,6 pot brembo brakes, modified inverted struts, ‘lowdown’ springs, ‘pillow ball’ bushes and thicker anti-roll bars. Think of it as like a 911 GT3 RS.

Very, Very rare with only 300 being built. Only officially sold in Japan.

Ultimate impreza in theory.

First link not a Hawkeye, can't stand new shape. :(

Could really do with knowing the key difference between models though, weight, gearing etc.

I used it as a general indicator

The principles of how its different from a normal STi are the same. Plus it uses the same engine as the Hawkeye so power is the same.

The weight savings of 30kg will be roughly similar too. They bin sound insulation, the boot carpets and sound proofing, etc..

The Spec C also has bespoke springs and dampers and uses different tyres. Just about all the stuff thats in that article applies to the differences between a Hawkeye STI vs a Hawkeye Spec C

Evo going already?

Possibly in March/Aprill as then I've had it a year. :D

I don't keep cars long. :p

Am tempted by a brand new 2010 Spec C Hawkeye for 22k. :)

The spec C is reasonably easy to get hold of.

The Spec C RA's are ridiculously rare. Think theres only about 6 in the country

PCM have an S204 for sale at the moment. Also ridiculously rare.

http://www.performance-centre-manchester.co.uk/stocklist.php

lovely carbon fibre backed bucket seats too.

From the advert

Along with all the usual JDM refinements the S204 features a blue printed sti engine and an array of sti suspension parts which include wishbones, dampers, anti roll bars, lateral link arms and strut braces including a rear strut brace damper made injuction with Yamaha. The interior see's a pair of bespoke carbon fibre recaro bucket seats made for the S203/S204 wrapped in alacantara and leather. The dash gets a matt black finish and theres also a carbon fibre front splitter.

£23,995

and nobody will have a clue what impreza it is. Those that know will be in awe. Do it :D

They still make Hawkeyes?
nope

PCM imported the last unsold stock from Japan

still got the transport wraps on, seat covers and everything. Literally brand new. Never registered in japan.

its not really their main business.

They mostly deal with import JDM stuff

they will have taken the BM in p/x i expect. No excuse i suppose,

unless its poor paint finish, as the rest of the car looks washed ?

The tuning bits make it a complete waste of time.

Lets pay 335d money for a 330d because its been proper wikid tuned to within an inch of its life.

This car is a real head turner, looks great with near E46 M3 performance, but with 60-70MPG!!!!

60-70mpg? Who do they think they are trying to kid?

Crap spec as well, it doesnt even have iDrive. And the way they've not even bothered to clean the wheels is amusing.

He's probably smoking the BMW about himself hence the dirty wheels, i suppose he could have cleaned them before the photo though.
