Subtitles

Can't see any existing solution for it - surprised in some ways. You could use a stand-alone subtitle player but syncing it and keeping it synced would be a bit of a pain.

Short of setting up some kind of capture platform that cropped and zoomed the area of the screen where subtitles are and streamed that bit to the phone I can't really think of any other way of doing it.

if you use KODI has your video player you can setup OpenSubtitles to bring subtitles in.
I do it all the time on my Firesticks so you can do it on a phone.

You can even go to OpenSubtitle.org and download the SRT files and link to them with the video player you are using.

it works a treat but you may have to download several for one that is the right one.

As SGF says its been a while but I'm sure that when i was last fiddling with subs the SRT's and Media Player Classic allowed a good amount of customisation.
Might be able to find a colour that's a bit easier to make out and then up the font a bit?

@Mrs Seabiscuit have you considered/tried something like bone conduction? Something like the aftershokz air/titanium headsets
My friends dad is quite deaf and this worked a treat for him, but not for his partner (also deaf) I suppose it depends the cause of the hearing loss.

Unfortunately, I have 100% hearing loss in the one ear and about 90%-95% loss in the other, I currently use an hearing aid but I am unable to use this at present due to a very bad infection.

We did actually ask about a baha, as a temp solution until infection is sorted however the audiologist did say and we knew anyway, I am far to deaf for it.

The next stages would actually be a cochlear implant.
