Trying to make a bootable usb version of DBAN but no luck. Have read that dban-1.0.7_i386 can create a usb copy. But keep getting errors.

Any tips? I would burn a CD but have none, just dvds but the old pc that im formatting does not read dvd either :(

Not very informative.... what errors precisely?

How are you creating the bootable drive? (have you tried this method?) If it's an old PC (old enough not to have a DVD drive), are you sure that it's able to boot from a USB drive at all?

Sorry about not being that informative.

I tried your method and got it working!:)
The PC is old but still does give option to boot from USB device, but I guess that it is too old as still gives Non-system disk error:(

The mobo might not like that particular flash drive - do you have another you could try? Although having said that, many older mobos simply won't boot from any USB drive full stop, even when it's listed as an option in the BIOS.

I guess if all else fails you could pull the drive from the old PC and temporarily connect it to a newer machine, but if it's a working PC and you use DBAN, needless to say be careful... in fact it would be a good idea to physically unplug all the drives except the one you want to wipe. :)

Thanks for advice, I pulled the drive out and did temporarily connect to another machine. Now DBAN is working and succesfully 0 filled the drive.
:)
