Sudden 6950 problem

Hi,

I have been using an Sapphire 6950 unlocked card for the last 14 months with no problem. Suddenly, whenever I play Fifa12 after 2-3 games, the sound remains constant and the pc crashes (screen frozen). I ran also MSI Kombuster and temperature raised to 90oC and screen froze again. Please bear in mind that yesterday I installed the new AMD 12.1 drivers. Any ideas?

Check that the fan is still spinning and the card doesn't need a clean out of dust. Same goes for any case fans.

I just opened the case and cleaned the dust from the card. Right now I am at 81oC with 36% of the fan and still rising...

Could it be that the 12.1 drivers have a less aggresive auto fam curve?
Right now at 85oC and 38% of the fan

If it helps every time I close Fifa12 I get a sound loop that is only cured by rebooting, no lock ups, though I haven't played more than a single game in a session recently.

Also on 12.1(a) with 8.95 drivers. I thought it was down to the recently added Xonar DX.

Edit: I should also mention that this audio bug has only started either as of adding 8.95 or adding the DX.

I have been playing thi game for several months with no problems! Yesterday night I played about 5 games with no crash and now 2 crashes in a row. Furthermore autofan control doesn't work in order to lower down the temp.

I installed TRIX from Sapphire site and changed the fan settings to more aggresive.
Temps now are below 80oC and card seems fine
